Hey guys, these bags were on my bike when I bought it. They mount perfectly, but dont seem to be for this bike?? THey only mount on the two fender rail bolts, and have no support so they can flap or be pulled out. ALso they rest/hit on the shocks so the shocks will get boogered up. I am wondering if I am missing some mounting hardware?? wrong bags for the bike?? or just a flimsy design?? I would appreciate input from anyone who knows these bags. THanks

Those look like the correct bags. They mount in only two spots. They should be snug enough to not "flop". They can be moved a little with some pressure. If you keep them on there you may want to reinforce the mount points. they can crack. MarkT's Leatherlyke Reinforcement Mod

That's the way they mount. Easy on, easy off. You're not the first to not like the way they rest against the shocks. I've never heard of any ill side effects despite dire warnings by some. On the other hand, I've heard of plenty of Progressive shocks leaking all by themselves.

+1 On the way they mount. I installed mine new and that's all there is as far as the two mounting studs. The shock skid has caused the edge of the shock tube to crack. I thought about making some kind of support but haven't had the time for that project. There is a recommended load weight limit on the underside of the lid. I believe it to be 20 lbs.

Way back in the early days of Valkyriedom there was a guy in California who made a support bracket for the specific purpose of keeping the bags off the shocks. I had some, they worked as advertised, but I let them go with the bags when I sold them. Maybe someone else has some laying around.

THanks I like the use of the overbed table from a hospital to place your tools on. I think I may have to bring one home when I see one in the maintenance shop targeted for the dumpster. A lot times they are thrown out when they are no longer able to be adjusted up and down.

Don't over think it. I have the same bags and what you have is correct, that's all the support they need. Follow the 20# weight cap. that's on the sticker and you will be fine.

Mine have brackets that keep them away from the shocks. I always thought they came with the bags but I guess not. The right side looks like the bracket is hitting the shock but it's not, it's a good inch or more away from it. I assume these are held tight in place by the thread bag stud and not just slid over the stud being held against the fender rail with the pressure of the bag? I like this possible solution to keep them from banging the shock tube.

I like this possible solution to keep them from banging the shock tube. Those are the bag braces from the machine shop in CA that used to be available. They stopped making them years ago. They were well made, anodized aluminum. I sold the pair I had years ago when I got rid of those POS LL bags. You might still find a pair floating around, from someone else who also dumped the LL bags. The braces are quite durable, should last indefinitely. Though you can't say the same for the bags.

Yea, I'm not crazy about the bags. You can open them faster without the key than with. Bogus security as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't buy them but since they were on the bike when I got it, guess I'll keep them.

The locks I feel are only there to keep the lid closed and in place and to keep the honest person out. Any bag can be broke into if they really want in. It was a budget thing when I bought mine. I keep nothing of value in my bags.
