For what its worth, my de-smogged '97 Tourer just passed the Maricopa Co, AZ emissions test with flying colors.  This is the third year I've had to do the emissions test.  The first two years all the smog equipment was intact.  This year I took it all off because I got tired of all the PAIR valve racket.  I figured I'd put it back on if it failed, but it didn't seem to make much difference as far as the testing went.

Just thought you'd want to know.
See you at Inzane.

i was born and raised in Glendale. I do not miss sitting in line for testing at all. In rural Missouri they do a safety inspection when your plates are due. They check brakes, tires, lights, suspension etc.

What's that??? We have neither emmisions or safety checks.  I reckon it could keep unsafe vehicles off the road? Probably a good source of revenue for the State? It's not free is it?

I lived in Florida for 25 years. Somewhere about 1990 the state inspection system was scrapped. It was a great one at that: They had state run facilities and would even adjust your headlights when needed! They also had rollers that would test the braking of each of the wheels. Well, the story on the street was that the Governor at the time got pissed when he had to wait in line with his RV and vowed to kill the system. The reasoning used was that the state inspection system was never proven to reduce accidents and save lives.

When I did my desmog, both of the ports that are supposed to supply air into the exhaust at the heads were plugged with carbon and gunk.  So this system, in my opinion, is useless.
