Guess who is going to the GOTF? Me! I got work down in Houston March 31st - April 1st which means I'm getting paid to ride down there and back. I am so lucky to have the job I have. Who else from Colorado is going?

I'm probably going. Didn't RSVP yet. Also just bought an enclosed trailer that I think I can put 2 bikes in. Well I'm sure I can put the George bike in, and the Magna. Might fit 2 Valks in it. Setting it up with a fwd wheel chock, and 2 more for angle parking. June's not going. So. Might be, if the weather's bad for the travelling, (but good there) I can haul the George bike and another. If any riding is going to be happening down there. If not - then not worth the trouble.

Dinner is March 12th at 6:00 pm. Golden Corral at Arapaho and Parker Road. Is there enough interest in folks staying overnight? If so I can set up a hotel. It would be really cool if those that are attending could respond so we could get a head count. If you want to spend the night please say so. That way we can see if there is enough interest in securing a hotel.

We will be there. If the weather is good, I'm looking at leading another ride on obscure front range roads with Evergreen in the center of the loop. I'm certain that several of these roads are unknown to most as they are obscure - you need a GPS to find them - I found them with GPS mapping software, back when I set up a lot of rides for the High Country Cruisers. These are great fun if you are fond of tight twisties. Those roads are after lunch (and maybe right before). If folks have interest we could do this in the daytime then end up at the buffet. Not to steal your thunder Damon. This might in fact enhance attendance. Also good to do it another day if that's the consensus. EDIT - This ride postponed due to weather and conflict with the dinner - basically pretty much most don't want to ride home after dark in the cold.
I'm calling this ride the Front Range Sampler No. One. I got a million of em... Starts in Golden. Lunch at El Rancho. Finishes at Golden Corral. Total 153.0 miles. Gas at Golden & Castle Rock. Almost all back roads - biggest road is Parker Rd from Russelville to Golden Corral. OK the 4 lane 4.0 mile segment of S Wadsworth to Waterton Rd isn't a back road. If you want to do this before the buffet meet-up please respond. If you would rather another day - that's OK too.

BTW Damon I have a taxi tire on the way. Thx to you and Dick for the carb balance. BTW everybody else - I was amazed Jade was perfectly balanced - no adjustment needed except add 100rpm to the idle speed. Now I'm gonna adj the valves and call it ready for the GOTF.

No need to adjust your valves Mark. Your carbs won't balance if your valves are out of adjustment. You are good to go.

Looks like, leaving at 10:30 from the Loaf & Jug, just off Iowa Dr 0.6mi NE of 93 & 6 stoplight, would be good timing to arrive at dinner on time. F6CT (and anyone else coming from the South) want to meet up at the Valero in Franktown, leave at 9:20?
Dang it Seth you NEED to get your butt over Monarch Pass and make this ride & dinner! I'm thinkin we could put ya up in a spare bedroom if ya want. Our place isn't fancy but it's home. Or there's the hotel Damon's talking about if you want to have bigger fellowship. Then there's also my markaritas and the hot tub...
The Austone just arrived. WOO-HOO more chromatherapy!

Weather forecast for 70° tomorrow we are riding to Simla for the fabulous Gyros at the Country Kitchen. I used to live in Greece a long time ago - these are the best gyros I've ever had outside of Kifissias. The chef is Greek so it figures. They also have other great entrees if you're not a gyros afficionado. They close at 2pm so we are leaving from the Safeway gas station in Elizabeth at noon if there's response here. Otherwise, we won't bother to stop there. Heading East, S at Cnty Rd 17 in Elizabeth, to Elbert Rd, turn E at Murphy Rd and pass through Payton at Hwy24 (if coming from S, good place to meet about 12:25 at the post office).
After lunch at Simla, heading NE to Limon then complete the loop using Hwy 86 back west. Nice winter loop ride, but I'm craving a great gyros!

Phil is coming to my place tomorrow for a rear tire. Probably won't make the Safeway but we may catch up to you later. If not. Every e ride safe.

The Foothills Sampler Ride No. 1 this Saturday, before the dinner gathering postponed due to weather system coming through, and most riders don't want to ride home in the dark & cold after dinner. (Not everybody has electric gear; nobody likes rain). We'll do it and other rides other days. Thanks for your interest.

At the Golden Corral this evening several of us decided to do the above "Foothills Sampler" ride tomorrow, Sunday. We will be assembled at the La Quinta (Arapaho & I25) kickstands up at 10 and stop at the Golden Loaf & Jug about 10:45. Probably roll from there about 11:00.

Sounds tempting...I'll have to check on what I am needed at home for today, and see if I can't meet up with y'all in Golden around 1045-1100. If I'm not there by 1100, I won't be able to make it.

I appreciate the opportunity to ride with you folks today! I enjoyed the route, and it really put myself and my new to me I/S through it's paces. Very scenic ride as well. Sorry I had to cut out early, I had a pregnant wife at home with our other two boys, and they can be a handful! I'm looking forward to more rides soon.

Misfit and Mark T, Thanks for all your efforts this past weekend. Meeting at the Golden Corral was great and Mark's "Foothills Sampler" was a great ride! I think I twisted my twister on the twisties. Dick, Chase, Mark, Damon, Chris and Neil, it was great riding with you guys! Let's plan another one when the sands off the road!

Good ride yesterday. Thanks for all who came. I was pleased this early in the season at least the more traffic'd roads were pretty clean. The really quiet ones, cleaner than expected. And the 5 mile or so segment of the ride after City View is always sandy. You gotta take it easy in those twisties even at the end of summer, they never clean it. I'm really fond of the ride through Stanley Park. Road is always clean, no traffic, and fun twisties. Never had the almost-accident happen before, when the cage was going too fast and cut across my path on his blind turn. Good burger at El Rancho. We found out, the GPS is wrong about access to Sedalia through Roxborough State Park. Road is closed to motor vehicles permanently. Nice neighborhood, red rocks formations, adobe style architecture and guarded community if you like that exclusivity type thing. Felt the stinkeye from the joggers as we rode in & back out the same way. The guard was kinda wimpy to let me talk us past his post - kinda thinkin that's why he's a rent-a-cop, I wouldn't have let us badass bikers past the guard house! I did point out we were on quiet Hondas not Harleys.
I have quite a few more ride maps on lessor-known roads along the front range. Several more right there in the Evergreen area, as well as all along North up past Estes Park.

I'd be up for that but I have some local rides I need to do - check out how my popup camper pulls behind the newly setup Hitchdoc on Jade, make adjustments if needed, and check ride the George bike, and put Deerslayer back on the road - been parked since Nov. Probably suffering from neglect.

Memorial weekend gathering. Is anyone interested in a two day event? I've had inquiries about hanging around my place on Saturday and riding on Sunday. My plan is to feed everyone Saturday and open the garage for wrenching. Deadpan Dick has offered to lead a short ride on Saturday (weather permitting) if there is any interest. For those that want to hang around here and tinker that works also. If there is interest in staying over and riding on Sunday I could come up with a few rooms between my house, Ron's place, maybe Deans, and Mark and June have also offered in the past. For those that want to stay on a motel there are some just down the road from my place. It would be great if those that are planning to come to eat could post a reply here so that I can get a head count for the grub. I will post a more detailed itinerary as It gets closer and I get an idea on how many plan to attend.
