Wow....  I'm confused.  Lots of things are copied and pasted from around the internet.   ???      Guess its just political news then.   Cause we have Pictures, CL Ads, Gun articles and pictures, and even readily available You Tube Videos of old music (and now older women).....

I just reread the "Rules of the Road", should we be expecting an update to that to reflect this new policy?

http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,63910.0.html

Yo Scott In Ok.   Would you like me to help you out, report to moderator and point you to some of those other "copy and paste" posts or are you working on them now?  Cause I only see this one from CA being targeted as of now. ??

You didn't copy and paste that off the internet did you?

You did, you did.... I would paste the link here to prove it, but then I would be guilty as well.

So Google your quote above and look in Wiki.

Did anyone hear of a big fire in Colorado with a strong westerly wind blowing the smoke east?

I'm not so much interested in the fire, just the speed of the wind so I can try to calculate when to expect the smoke.

I'm thinking so. It appears it may  have already migrated to Colorado's eastern bordering states....   I hope it doesn't dissipate too much in the next few days.

Seriously?  Why not let us decide?  If CA's post wasn't worthy of commenting on, then his thread will die on the vine.

Politics affects everyone here whether they want to bury their head in the sand and try and avoid it or not.

Crap.  A motorcycle forum with no politics and no scantly clad biker babes.  How many tire threads and oil threads can we talk about?

If a bunch of motorcycle riding old farts can't sit around a look at some hot biker chicks, then at least let us sit around here solving the worlds problems.

I guess I didn't make myself very clear.  Let me try again.  I was not killing the message.  CA posted some links, and copied text from a website.  He did not write his own comments, or make any comment at all.

If you got some info to copy/paste fine, but at least make some comments about why you think this information is important to you.  This message board is not a place to redistribute links from new sites for the sake of "Getting the word out".  Honest, I'd call what he posted and the way it was posted nothing more than spam.  The specific content of the message is irrelevant.

yep, I have mixed feelings about this.  I do hate to see some BS link to a web site that frequently I think poster may not even read.   I just skip the post however.

I appreciate your work as well as the other admin, Scott.  cooldude

while I do not think the VRCC should be a porn site, I agree with BF, turning a biker forum into a PG website can be a bit boring.  I sometimes like the contentious political posts (though I do get tired of and turn off the frequent ill informed bashing of some of the current political leaders) and sometimes I like to see . . .

Scott,

That wasn't very clear earlier, and is slightly clearer now.  There are many other posts around that also have that, or with only minimal one line comment/snippet (which I assume are ok by your definition above?).  Some others might not even have a link, but are clearly a copy and paste alone, without comment or even a link.  (example:  http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,63912.0.html ... and there are others that may fall into that category).  I personally don't have problem with either because it does point us to something we might not have otherwise searched for or read, and does in a way promote participation.  But just by adding a self authored comment, it appears you consider that as being suitable for posting.... and if that is to be policy, I'm sure most if not all would be fine with that.  And, IF that is now policy...... I would recommend that it be indicated in a written change to the policy (Rules of the Road) and published.

Thanks,

some fine Americans just don't like world net daily, or maybe they just agree with a president that has and just said it again that he has a pen and will bypass congress to get his agenda through. I guess scott is one of them  :'(
part of his agenda is more power for the EPA and more ethanol in the gas which will require every valkyrie owner to re-jet their bike so it will run, black boxes for any vehicle on the hwy that includes m/c. etc. Momz has been posting about epa agenda and I see very few reads of his post, how sad.  :'(
 now its m/c related.

My political opinions are my own, and I do not share them here.  First, because I have no interest in discussing politics on a public forum, and it is not something I feel a moderator of a message board should be involved in. Either way, my opinions of the subject or its source had absolutely no affect on me editing the post.

I was thinking that maybe it might force someone to think before they posted political topics(one specific type of post that I described earlier) that 8 times out of 10 are going to start the usual political fighting we see here day after day.  My guess is that several of you who felt the need to reply to this thread are wondering why on earth I would want that outcome?  Well, since you asked......while it is quite exhilarating for you, I have to deal with the aftermath.

Let's eliminate any reference to RationalWiki

"RationalWiki is a genetic-egalitarian race-denialist propaganda website that is run by Ontario resident Trent Toulouse. RationalWiki is a wiki founded by secular humanists in response to Conservapedia. They regard Richard Dawkins as their messiah. It is based on MediaWiki, like Metapedia. The wiki has around 4200 English pages middle of May 2010. The information is inaccurate and sparse. The wiki begs for donations. The site is extremely anti-Christian and anti-Conservative and promotes sodomy and gun restriction. "

Scott,

I can appreciate and support that.  And, as I indicated above, if that is the new policy it should be published and promoted to make everyone aware of it in advance and enforced equally on all offending posts.

Aftermath?  People can't have a civil disagreement without aftermath?  Do you email out cyber band-aids or ??

I keep a good stock of cyber band-aids to send to the many members and a few sponsors who have been overwhelmed by the lack of civility.  Its sad, embarrassing and quite frustrating on our end.

As I understand it, the original post was deleted merely because it was just "links" without any other comment, opinion or the like.  And, again as I understand it, if it is worthwhile to post the link or quote the text ... it is also worthy of a comment/opinion regarding the link or quote.

I'd rather read it then click on links. Unless its links posted by oss or clark, then I will.  Evil

I very rarely click on links, if it has a link I usuall just pass it up and go to the next poster, but if that poster has something interesting to say about the link I may go back and open up the link. Kinda like reading a book backward. I wanna know what happens first then read the content that leads up to the happenings.

yep, I have mixed feelings about this.  I do hate to see some BS link to a web site that frequently I think poster may not even read.   I just skip the post however.

I appreciate your work as well as the other admin, Scott.  cooldude . . . . . .

Wait a minute, Scott, I have changed my mind.  If it is a link to "WND" go ahead and delete it.  that IS akin to pornography!  cooldude

From RationalWiki.   "While they present themselves as news, WND is essentially a tabloid for radical right-wingers. Their publishing standards are rock-bottom, and they have run stories from extremely questionable sources on many, many occasions."

Sounds EXACTLY like MSNBC!  LOL

so u are against free speech and the freedom of the press? so sad!

Cheer up. The First Amendment is safe. There was absolutely no government intervention against any poster on this forum for comments made here, and no action taken against any news (or should I say "news") organizations cited here.

You really cannot take to heart the First Amendment definitions that were flying around during the whole Duck Dynasty debate. I'm pretty sure the Dixie Chicks didn't (and NOBODY stepped up to defend their Constitutional guarantee of a reality TV show).*  Grin

*If anyone's panties get in a wad over these comments please proceed immediately to the BRC (Butthurt Resolution Center) for sympathetic looks and commiseration where you will receive tips on methods best used to unwad panties (even those of Fundamentalist Christians who have been accidentally exposed to a lethal dose of Bill Maher).

My Lord Man, please be careful.   Sufficient Vacuum applied to a glass container can result in an implosion thereby causing injury to the vacuumer (that be you).   Secondly, I don't believe you can dent a bottle of Wild Turkey.   Gonna have to see that one.   Yep, that's a challenge.  Wink
