Guys, As you know I am new to the Valkyrie scene, and getting to know my bike more everyday. My question is, what is the brass looking nipple on the headlight, its above the high beam turn signal indicator. Thanks Stewart.....  |

That is used to change out the Freon in the headlight. WARNING do not install new Freon until after you have adjusted the muffler bearings as it will cause the nut behind the handlebars to invoke a wobble.

You want to learn bike? Take the two screws out of the headlight shell and pop the headlight out and look inside to see if any of the wiring has been tampered with.

Could you have a head light modulator, and that is the optic cell mounted to get the best light?
Like mentioned, pic and/or remove your head light and look inside.

I believe he nailed it. My Path Blazer has a light sensor that is gold around the edge as you describe. These want to be mounted facing up to pick up ambient light and not be impacted by headlights. Remove the head light, there may be a wire going to a round module at the base of the headlight bulb. |

it is a headlight modulator. just took mine off and installed a LED headlamp. Mine was not mounted in headlamp assembly.

Stewart, we haven't heard back from ya (I see you did add a pic)
Did you know you had a head light modulator, and how to use it? (not all are created equally)
My optic sensor is like an LED on a cable, and I threaded that up through the bike to the highest point, and tie wrap it there (it can also point straight down and get the refection from the road).
I also have a small rubber "cap" I can place over top of it, so I can run high beam during the day time. I find that the modulation turns on/off a lot during dusk, dawn, and driving through heavy shade, and I don't want to confuse other drivers.

Guys,
Thanks for all your help, yes I took the headlight apart, and there are some wires coming from the nipple to a little white box that has wires am guessing going to the bulb, so as most of you mention it must be a light module, not sure how it works,When the bike is sitting idling everything seems normal I have not noticed if when riding my light is flashing up front. Am not a fan of that, and if indeed this is the case, I will have to disconnect it.

1st, see if there is a name on it. Then you can go to their website and look it up.
Mine works when I turn on high beam. Then when you have sufficient light (out side daytime/flash light) it will start to flash. I can see my high beam indicator flash when it is functioning. Get to dark (in a tunnel) and it stops flashing, but high beam stays on.

Modulators make you much more visible to others on the hiway. Mine work when on Hi-beam in daylight only.
