Tucson - Its a dry heat

« on: September 01, 2014, 10:25:13 AM »

Looking at putting a hack on my new to me 2000 IS.  Which just begs out for a car 'tar...

I have used the Austone Taxi Tire on another rig (XR1200 with a Ural), and it has worked out great.

BUT Universal Tire now indicates BOTH an Austone (SKU 66235)  and a Dunlop (SKU 66237) tire in 175/R16.  Other than SKU's, same load rating, same size.

Besides about $70, does anybody know any other difference? The tread patterns look slightly different, but that may be because sometime tires are "illustrated for representative look only...".

Regards.

I don't know this as fact, but the Austone originally was made in China, I believe the Dunlop is the same tire but made in France(?).

I can't be sure of any differences but here is a not to old thread about the history of the Austone.
