Hello. I have had exhaust on bike for around 27000 miles.  Question does baffle break down wear out as I have a few pipes that are louder?    Also riding buddies say they don't like how it sounds know.  I can tell its louder but not sure how it  sounds(they say it sounds bad)  they like its louder but they say it sounds like sh**!!!!

Cobra baffles are solid steel, nothing to wear out

The fiberglass wrap on one or 2 of the baffles might be all blown/burned out.

Chris is right the baffles are steel perforated pipe without glass wrapping.

If they were put on new they had no wrap on the baffles,,,if used, there's a good chance there was some added. I added wrap to mine, which helped a lot but not enough for me to keep the pipes on the bike for long.

They don't come from cobra wrapped with fiberglass

Thanks everyone. It sounds like just right side is louder.  I guess I will have to remove baffle from left and see if it is wrapped.  I don't think they are as I have had a bike that was wrapped and when it started to come apart I would see pieces coming out

If you want to wrap it yourself I'd suggest using stainless steel wool which will last indefinitely.  You can find it at Amazon.  I used it to make the custom glass/SS packs for this bike:

Matt: What may be happening is the vacuum lines may be wearing out causing the cylinders to be unbalanced. Replace vac lines, tighten all intake clamps and do a carb synch.

Mark,

That bike looks tits. Thinking of that slowly rolling through a slightly dusty parking lot with those pipes kicking up a storm....Nice!
