I'm sure this has been done but i cannot find a thread on it. has anyone replaced the neutral/blinker/high-low beam lights with LED ones for better visibility?
I am trying to figure out which ones will work...
Thanks!

Did you try the 'search' function? Type LED in, and there is more than ya need... Here is a good thread, with pictures. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,34551.0.htmlBlack Dog

Thanks Black Dog, i saw that thread and i plan to place an order to get some lights in my Gauges. However, I was hoping to see if anyone has replaced the neutral/headlight/blinker indicator lights. If so, i would order them at the same time, just not sure what I would need to make it fit.

I don't trust idiot lights, there's a reason they're called that. This was taken a number of years ago shortly after I got the bike, made a few changes/additions.

I wasn't aware there were gauges that did a better job than neutral, turn signal, and high beam idiot lights.

Excuuuuuse me folks. The title referred to idiot lights, but the question posed wasn't about idiot lights. As far back as I can recall(the 50's and beyond), the lights questioned have never been called idiot lights. The oil pressure and temperature were the main ones and the reason they were given that name was because if you relied on them for warning of impending failure....you're an idiot.

John, looks like you have some Autometer gauges mounted....with some visors on them.
Care to share the what and where on the visors?

Got them at the 75 Chrome Store, a major stopping point for bikers and truckers. More lights than a night game, plenty of chrome....a truckers dream. It's down here at the intersection of SR44 and I-75. At the top do a search for "gauge visor" and you'll see a bunch of different styles and sizes. I have them on the big gauges as well. Kuryakyn sells the exact same thing for the speedo/tach for about $25, you can get these for $4-5. The small ones are priced different, obviously. http://www.75chromeshop.com/

Did you do this already? I replaced the neutral indicator on mine as it was the hardest to see. I used a 10mm 40 degree LED, 5 pieces for two bucks. I can't recall off the top of my head if I just used a current limiting resistor or a proper constant current led driver, but pretty sure I kept drive current at ~100mA or less.
It's SO bright now, definitely noticeable upgrade. One minor drawback, because LEDs light nearly instantly compared to incandescent lighting, when shifting from first to second you will see a quick flicker of the neutral indicator. But I can live with it.
I didn't take any pics at the time but I have been meaning to get back in there and do the others, the turn indicator, high beam and temperature. When I do I can post up some pics.

I dont think I will end up doing the LED indicator lights since we are putting a fairing on the bike i was talked out of it. We are hoping that with them mounted in the fairing will improve their visibility. I did do LED lights in the gauges though and that is a real nice mod!
