OK, so what is the trick to getting this SOB back on. I finally have the entire engine back together and all parts to re-install everything and tore the damn boot trying to put it back on. Now I have to wait another week for one to come in. Is there a trick to getting the thing on?

Try rolling it back on it's self. Half way inside out. Lube it up with a little rubbing alcohol.

Welcome to my world.
Type in U-joint boot in a search, and read the humor (and anguish).
I just nicked mine, so I (hopefully) repaired it with liquid electrical tape.
Supposedly new ones are easier to put on. Get the swing-arm straight, it's supposed to help.

Thanks guys. I was hoping to have a final chapter of the interstate rebuild ready by tomorrow night....... and then I tore the damn thing nearly in half trying to get it on. So, freaking week wait to get another one. Hopefully the final rebuild chapter will be coming next week now, and the first chapter of the "Lazarus" story will begin soon after that. I can't wait to get her back together, but holy crap who designed that little boot!!! Time to search that little boot to see what other stories of humor I can find so I do not feel so bad about destroying that one.

Rest easy... The new boot is much more pliable than your old one (at least 12 years old if it's an '03). I had the same issue last summer, and frankly putting a tear in the old one forced me to get the new one, and saved me added heartburn Black Dog

I feel your pain, when through this a while ago and posted this: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,74776.0.htmlI eventually used a small amount of grease to help slip the boot over the swing arm tube. Liquid soap may be a better alternative.
