Greg and Sandy are planning on riding with the Florida group in Maggie Valley during the first week of June.  We won't be staying at the lodge but not too far from Hot Springs (the north end of The Rattler).
Our house should be completed by then and we look forward to a great time with our Florida Valkyrie friends!

So you guys are leaving Monday the 1st???

I don't thinks so Nick, I am riding with a couple, friends of mine and checking in Maggie Valley on Sunday 31st.

I am not sure if I'll be leaving Friday 29th or Saturday 30th.
If I leave on Friday, I'll just spend Saturday riding some of the North GA roads, have not done The Gauntlet yet and is on my to do list  Grin
If I leave Saturday, I'll stay in Commerce GA and get to Maggie on Sunday.

Got to get thru a busy week then off to the Mountains !! Looking forward to meeting up with everyone. I had an old friend call me from NY, said he was at his home in Venice FL.

One word led to the next, and I think he will be riding up to Maggie Valley with us. He has done cross country a few times on his BMW so he fits right in with this group. See you all soon  cooldude

Looks like we will have some rain (hey it's Spring).

Remember to pack a few Walmart bags in your rain gear.  Step your boot in the bag, and it slides right down the pants and through the elastic rain gaiter.

As funny as it is watching a dozen guys hopping around, falling in the mud or knocking their bikes over trying to get into rain pants/bibs in a hurry, this is a cheap and effective workaround.   tickedoff Grin

Jess it looks like 50 to 60% chance of rain every day. Weather men are never right........right? Roll Eyes

The new rain gear may get a workout.

I think they are more right than wrong.

On the other hand, scattered-intermittent-isolated are not the same thing as all day torrential downpours.

Weather in FL flatlands and NC mountains/hills is a bit different.  You can go over a mountain, and it is nice on the other side.  If some of you guys have those new fangled gizmos with weather/radar apps, we can try to ride toward open skies.

Apparently I am not looking at the same reports you have been looking at.

I called the Hotel today and spoke to Irene. She said it has been raining some but not all day and mostly in the afternoon. We will just have to wait and see, at least we will be in the mountains. I'm also having a small problem withe the fuel rail leaking a little bit. Seems to stop when the bike warms up. Bill gave me a quick fix that I hope stops it or slows it down. Wish I had discovered it earlier so it could be fixed properly but I will "endeavor to persevere".

Surely so, until/unless full (on any given day).

Tight quarters, so care will be appreciated by all.

Billy, Leesa, Pappy, James and several others have made it to Commerce GA.  Jack and his group are a few miles behind.  Sounds like all is good.  They should be in Maggie Valley around lunch time.

Just a suggestion on your tie down points. In front you'd be better off using the lower triple tree than either the bottom of the forks or the engine guard. In back, remove the side covers and tie off on the frame under the seat instead of the bag guard....they're not as strong as the engine guard. Better stability with a higher contact point and no strain on the bottom of the fork, and I've seen the engine guard bolt snap on a Wing from a tie down there.Obviously it was a rough ride. The rider had a heck of a time getting the remaining portion out of the frame, finally had to cut it out and rebuild that section. Keep in mind, when you tie off at the bottom the majority of the weight is above that point and still susceptible to movement.
