I bought my bike in California.  Is it different than bikes sold in the other 49 states?  How do we know?
Another thread suggests there are 'California cams', but I've never seen anything to indicate this.
If it is different, how does that impact performance?

in the mpg thread they also suguest the ca cams are different....? what the heck.  Undecided i would assume its for smog reasons.... guess that would not surprise me but i find it hard to believe

I removed my post, I didn't see it was the GL1800 thread.

the classic valkyrie does have different cams. I know nothing about the GL1800 Goldwing Valkyrie

I do know that the 1500s Cali bikes were different as I had two Interstates at the same time and the red black was a clai bike with a canister and plenty more hoses. When the de smog was done the extra parts were way more than the other IS and when done it would not run until it was re jetted.

The 1800 has all the smog and pollution stuff so I would have to think its legal in all states.

The Goldwing engine has a catalytic converter.  I believe it is a 50 state version.
