Handlebars

When I bought my 2014 Valkyrie, the handlebars were at the limit of my reach comfort. I bought the Corbin seat and knew it would push me back a bit, but figured I could deal with new handlebars at a later time.

It's been a couple months and I really want to address the reach of my handlebars. I have been looking, but not much options out there. And I think new hydraulic lines and extension of electric wires may be needed.

Anyone here gone down this road?

(I'm 6'1" , but have short legs and arms... really long torso, I didn't think the reach would be as annoying as it has been. My first stop will be to Corbin for custom seat modification, still curious about the bars though)

Yep, I did this exact thing last spring.  I made my own bars, because I didn't find anything I liked.  I extended the wiring by 8", and I bought new longer brake, and clutch lines as well as longer throttle lines.  I made 16" mini apes, but 14" would have been ok as well.  They came out great and make riding so much more enjoyable for me.

I am a BIG Valk lover.
What's holding me back from a new Valk 1800 is the handlebars.
I spoke with HELIBARS about what they have that would "fit" The Valk.
As far as diameter of the bar Helibars has several that would fit. The question is: which model will fit best?
I have Helibars on my GL1800 trike and my HD Roadking and they are WONDERFUL!!!
They are easily adjusted to maximize my riding comfort..

I think there's plenty of handlebars if you do some kind of giant-riser thing
that allows you to mount them without hitting the key...



Problem is, then you need custom cables and lines and you'll have
to lengthen all the wires and find a way to mount the LED pod and...

Hey Mike, I haven't taken a close look at this, yet, but do you think the cables all need to be swapped if only the handlebars are swapped?  No risers, just old standard Valkyrie bars?  I would really like to do this (the right elbow/wrist pain is a real bother with these), but I really hate the idea of having to swap out all the cables and ESPECIALLY hate the idea of having to solder extended control lines.
