I purchased my 2014 a few months ago. I paid $11,000.00 and then added a Honda windshield. The dealer said he had a shield that was installed as a display so he gave it to me at a discount and installed it for free.

I added about $3,000.00 worth of STUFF shortly after purchasing the bike.

My local dealer was $2,100.00 higher than the dealer on line so I bought elsewhere.

Get the cowl lights. If you don't mind the non-hard Honda bags, they'd
be good too...

First two things to get or ask for, windshield, and highway rider pegs. Both are a necessity imo.

After the test ride you'll probably be getting out your check book.
You're gonna be taking it home.

The only OEM acessory I purchased was the sissybar and carrier rack.

You may want to look around a little and read the message boards about aftermarket: bags, windscreens, lights, etc...... before asking the dealer to install Honda items.

Of course, negoiate your best deal and keep us informed.

Best of luck!

Grin Fay Meyers in Denver blew his out last summer for $10,999.00 out the door with no other fees. Unfortunately I had already bought mine for $12,999. I added the Honda tall windshield because the dealer threw it into the price. At $11000 you can't expect freebies. If your not going to put a babe on the back, do the rear seat eliminator kit. They look great

Gave 11,900 here. I think your price cannot get better. On a side note, if on test ride if you wear a 12 or larger shoe you may not like the shift lever distance (close). I put the kuryakyn heel shifter on and it was 100x better. If you can talk him out of a windshield, would be super sweet.  BTW you can see mine on the 2016 calendar.  cooldude

Boy , I just rode my 2010 BMW R1200R  and it is LIGHT WEIGHT  .
The Valk and my R are night and day
There's a lot more planning  when riding a Valk  , it's more like a school bus , if I remember right .
I sold my last Valk  5 years ago

On my R , I sometimes feel like I am on a bicycle  with a motor

I wear a smaller size shoe

yeah , at $10500  , guess I should be happy  with that price
Gotta decide over the  black with ABS or the burgundy with out  , if I buy one

Kidd, you are in a great position at this time. Honda is not making any more Valks, so they are trying to get rid of what they have.  I bought mine when they first came out in 5/14. I paid $16,999!!! I also got suckered  into the extended warranty for another $600. I would ask them to throw in the extended warranty. Hopefully you will never need it.

Get the ABS model

I agree, get abs! I stopped on a wet road in a very short distance, and felt the abs kick in. Knowing I wasn't going to slide as a result of the braking was comforting.

Okay , the black has abs  and self canceling turn signals .
how long do the signals stay on  before they are turned off ??

what else does the black one have that the red does not ?

Kidd

Turn signals cancel after a combination of time and distance, which works well (think about waiting at a light with the signals on - even if you're there for 2 minutes they won't cancel until you've also covered the distance.  Sorry, I don't remember the numbers, but they make sense.
Other than that and ABS, it's the same bike.

Mine is red with ABS (old world style  Grin). I feel the ABS on the rear brake very soon but it doesn't matter. I'm used to better brakes indeed and I think the ABS is absolutely necessary  Cool

Self canceling signals ? Like on old BMWs, you'll have to activate them again and again because at usual speeds you count 10 and then it's over  Embarrassed

My 2010 BMW is the same for turn signals , time and distance , will not turn off at stop light

Reading reviews 'bout the  2014 Valk  , some write the  suspension  is a little on the stiff side

Well , the weather has turned bad here in Az   , not going down to Phx anytime soon , at least for a week or so

Didn't know the black had self canceling turn signals? Is it a plug in module? can't immagin they would rewire differently for just one model. Would suspect possible could buy the add on and install? Anyone check that out?

Only the black ones with ABS have self cancelling signals.  They turn off after 1/10th of a mile I believebut, I still turn mine off myself.  A habit from my old valk.

By all means GET IT!

Sounds like you've had a few bikes in the past...  This is ideal.  That way you will know how insanely awesome of bike it is.  I's sort of a shame that Honda supposedly stopped making them due to paltry sales..

But I get...the majority of bike riding folks whom ARE NOT experienced, just think that 'rattle you to death, air cooled, antiquated bike' from Cheesetown is the only one to own... 2funny

The bike is incredible man. Cheesy  The ONLY thing I didn't like about it was the stock tires.  So, and imo, try to just get new Michelin tires right away, and have them BEFORE you take delivery, install the tires.

The stock ones are a waste of time.

I just turned 3500+K on the odometer...the bike just keeps getting SMOOTHER and faster...  The gear shifting with synth oil is the smoothest I've ever felt...and with ethanol free fuel it's a down right FAST machine...with incredible torque...5th gear roll ons @70 make me laugh...it just rockets to triple digits...and is sold and stable as hell.  A really well designed *motorcycle*.

Ledany, , I was told this by a salesman at the Honda dealership. Also, if you go to the Honda PowerSports website, they show a 2015-2016 F-6, and a 2015-2016 Gold Wing, but Valk. is still listed as 2015.  I could be wrong.

As I've said before. The web site not listing the next model year happens on many bikes and makes as well.  Look at the Honda site under St1300 what model year do you see?  I'm not saying you are wrong but killing a bike by saying so is not necessarily true. When mother Honda says so then kill it if you want.

Angry One thing to note, the black is really thin and scratches real easy. I don't believe they clear coated the black paint. The red maybe easier to take care of since Honda placed a $99.00 black paint job on them.

The black ones do have a clear coat on them.  The problem is that pretty much every manufacture is going to a water based paint/clear coat when they used to be oil based in the past.  The water based paints/clear coat are just not tough enough.  I will probably get my tins painted in a couple of years.  They are getting scratched up fast.

I just turned 3500+K on the odometer.

Whaaaat? Only 3500? not riding enough  Grin

Ive got around 5800 on mine and the longer I ride it the more I like it. Honda did a wonderfull job on these bikes and I am so glad I got one. I have more and more confidence in the bike also and the hand grips were a good addition, thanks bscrive

Yer right - don't you guys actually ride? Wink  I'm at 5K+ in 3 months and that's only because winter made me stop  Angry

AdrianR will love to hear that I'm looking forward to trying the Michelin Pilots on for size as per his posts.  I noticed that the bike is no longer neutral through turns; I have to fool around with tire pressures to see if I can neutralize it again.

Angry The black paint on these can't hold a candle to a Ford, Chevy or Dodge factory paint. Never owned anything this easy to scratch. Good thing I love the bike. I will get a real paint job down the road when I cant' stand it anymore. The bike is worth it.
