Hi folks. Just bought a 99 interstate that has been rolled. Is there a lay down switch that will not let it start after a crash? And any ideas on finding a complete dash for it?

There is a tip-over switch, and it is behind the center cover (under the seat)...

I like to deal with the Pinwall reseller on eBay... he pre-dates (I think) eBay,
and is easy to deal with on the phone if you don't use eBay (I don't
use paypal)...

I've had good luck with plenty of others who have parted out Valks
on eBay too...

It is called a bank angle sensor.  Uprighting the bike and removing power then reapplying power should reset it.
If you need to get at it it is attached to the centre cover under the seat.  Pain in the butt to get to.

The way it works is if you tip over the bike, it kills the ignition.  All you need to do to reset it is right the bike, then turn the key off and back on.  It's number 8 in this picture:



The flat part is to the top, and should be installed horizontal.

Since you have taken possession of the bike, it probably has been turned off and on after it was righted. Must be something else. Depending on the severity of the crash a number of things could have become dislodged.

Check all of the fuses you can find.

Do the lights come on when the key is turned?
Does the engine turn over when the starter button is depressed?
If nothing happens, make sure the bike is in neutral and the bike is standing up with the kickstand up, clutch lever pulled in and then try to start it.

If the engine turns over but does not start, make sure it is getting gas by opening on of the carb drain screws to see if gas comes out.

If the carb bowls are empty, it might take some cranking to fill them through the vacuum operated fuel petcock. Extended cranking can deplete the battery to the point where it does not have enough power to fire the engine.

It is possible that the Bank Angle Sensor (Tip Over Switch) changed position in the crash and the bike thinks it is laying down.

Lights on, motor turns over, in neutral, clutch lever in. been riding trikes too long and the kickstand is down and did not check the gas flow. Will do that in  the morning if not raining. Thanks for all the help. This is going to be my next trike to replace the one I lost in a house and shop fire.
