I know several of you guys have had this problem with that red fuse melting under the right side cover. I'm trying to find a replacement for my brothers 97 because his melted. I'm having no luck finding one. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Mine was the starter relay with fuse, I fixed it then ordered one from Partzilla for 30.00.

Are you referring to the ignition relay fuse?

I bypassed that poorly engineered blade connection years ago.  Too much current going through that connector, especially if it gets any corrosion resistance in it.

Buy a cheap, inline fuse holder that is the same size as your 30 amp fuse on your starter relay.  Use a crimp eye connector and connect one end to the screw that holds your main 55 amp fuse.  Connect the other end of the fuse holder via a crimp butt splice connector to the red wire that burned off of the left rear of your starter relay.

It's fixed forever.

In 2008, on my first adventure 200 miles away from home on the Valk, I experienced the same problem as Chris, melted the connector above the starter relay.  Solved the issue similar to Chris.
I never replaced the connector as it is part of a much larger wiring harness...
