Are the I/S shocks actually shorter than the STD shocks which would reduce ride height? or do they just sit lower then the STD shocks
I thought they were all the same 13" length.
I don't want any lower.
Thanks

No, they are the same length. I switched out the std shocks on my yellow tourer with IS shocks.

I think that the upper chrome shell on the I/S is shorter than the STD/Tourer. Overall length is the same.
I put I/S shocks on my Tourer when one of the originals started leaking. Better shocks.

Better shocks.

What makes them better? Do they actually make the bike sit lower likt th op said? I though they just had a stiffer spring to carry the extra weight. Wouldn't that make a lighter standard or tourer sit higher? Is the compression and rebound damping different?  Sorry for all the questions on your post 98valk but i think its relevant.

I think it felt better with the I/S shocks because when I replaced the Tourer shocks they were getting weaker. Maybe used I/S shocks equal new Tourer shocks as fair as stiffness? Anyway if your Std/Tourer shocks are on 3, you can probably put the I/S on 2. The I/S shocks have better damping. Just my opinion.

I/S have stiffer springs and rebound rates.

I have three pairs of low mileage I/S shocks and all measure 12 3/4" eye to eye on setting 1. On setting 3 they are 13". I will be comparing my STD shocks, after I pull them.
an article stated that I/S has a lower seat height than STD, this is why I'm asking and thinking the shocks are shorter. maybe it is the seat itself?

can anybody confirm STD shock length per a setting?
thanks
