Gauge Lighting - 1998 Valk

Just wondering if anyone else has difficulty reading their speedometer or tachometer at night. I bought my '98 Valk 1500 a few months ago and rarely ride at night. However, I just went out for about an hour of night riding and found the gauges really difficult to read (due to the light color of the guages, I suppose). Is this a common complaint? Any easy fixes out there? Thanks.

This is probably the best thread about replacing the instrument lights.

I'm happy with the standard lighting in the gauges. They are very easy on the eyes. I don't need to know 'exactly' how fast I'm riding, a 'somewhere around' is sufficient for me. Speed is determent by what I'm comfortable with at night, not by what the speedo says.
I saw the pictures in the thread Meathead posted and the bright ones look great, but I suspect they are also tiresome when riding for some period at night. And I want as little light in front of me as possible, because that way I can see better ahead of the road.

The green bulbs match well on the Teal bike.

I didn't have an issue with how dim the original bulbs were. I did replace with led bulbs because tach light went out. Here is a link to my story about it

I don't have a problem with the stock speedo and tach lights on the Valk at night either. Now neutral, high/low headlight, and turn signal indicators on the headlight bucket in bright sunlight is another issue. I plan to replace them with LEDs. On order in fact (for a Tourer) -
