Not heading all the way out to InZane this year so alternate plans are to head back into cooler country again this early June. Carolina mountains again probably. We had a relaxing time in Maggee Valley and enjoyed it.
Thoughts?

I'm probably in for this, again.

PS, remember how it rained every single day last time?  A few weeks later may avoid the spring monsoons.  Up in those mountains, it's not just rain, it's no visibility.

Pappy Happy New Year bud!  Cheesy  Well think of this..... I'm not going to InZane either but have never been to Arkansas which is a lot closer than SD and they are suppose to have some great Ozark Mountain riding. Is that something you'd consider making a trip to?  ??? Great place to stay, excellent food I've heard and good weather in May, first week of June. NC is closer no doubt and easier to get to in a day but this would be more exciting perhaps. Great fishing if there is a day of rest.  uglystupid2
Let me know your thoughts.

That's what this thread is for! Throw out the ideas and see what sticks! Cool weather is a must as what we can look forward to when we return is less than optimum and that's being nice.
I stayed in Missouri in 1998 from June through late October doing photo shoots for Bass Pro down on Tablerock lake and got down to Arkansas a couple times. From what I remember the roads and scenery were fun looking. Don't remember if the roads were in good shape or not though. Where, in Ark. were you thinking?

Northern Arkansas is very good riding. Eureka springs is cool and Mountain View is a neat little town.
Last time I was in Mt.View I was at a gas stop and the lady ask me if I was going to the town square? I said I don't know what's going on? She said for the music silly. Apparently every Friday and Saturday night the folks come into town and sit around and play music. I went and saw everything from 5 yr olds playin the fiddle to 90 year olds playin the banjo. Some of the best freakin Bluegrass music a man could hear Wink probably 10 different little groups scattered all around the town square playing, only problem was there wasn't time to hear them all cooldude

Would like to know more about a good central location to ride out from if considering Arkansas.
Eastern Tenn. is another possibility.
Up for suggestions on a good relaxing week or so with good friends and great scenery and nice roads.
Maggee is very easy since we have been there before.

This place, in Eureka Springs looks pretty cool and MC friendly.  http://www.eurekabw.com/motorcycles_eurekasprings.shtml

We could get somewhere close to the cabin and have another fish fry.
Irwin Tn. / Johnson City Tn. area are just over the mountain Tn / N.C. line.
421 Shady Valley good ride along with a ton of other back roads that we have found over the years.
Just throwing out - will be watching to see what will take place !!!

Yes Pappy I have stayed at that place and it is MC friendly in fact you may not see a car other than staff in the parking lot in the summer months.
Flask Little Switzerland is also a nice area. You really can't go wrong in east Tenn ,NC or Virginia for that matter except the carry laws in Virginia but hey don't ask don't tell Evil

BigH, we had a little glitch last year with our D governor, but it was quickly fixed.  VA recognizes almost everyone's permits.

the law requires Virginia to grant recognition to all states that issue permits...

Cobbler sounds good. Maggie is always fun.
I wouldn't be opposed to a change and a look at the curves of Arkansas.

Not opposed to Arkansas or Maggie however we are trying to work out a Colorado trip as we are way overdue and need to say hi to friends and family in Leadville.

If for some reason it doesn't pan out we will keep an eye on the final wrap of these musings.

2funny  Hey Nick, I hope your NY trip for the holidays was good? Nice to have you back in warm sunny FLORIDA, Right?  Roll Eyes I think I mentioned something to you back in Nov. when we went on the Natchez Trace ride about a trip to the Ozark's.  cooldude I think it would be something nice and a little different than the Western NC sites. Like you said we could get it over and done with if most agree. Maybe ride up with those going to InZane also or on the way back? Just a thought.......  coolsmiley

Several years back the inZane was out in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Grumpy and I rode out there. That was the summer that was sooo hot would would melt. Shannon and Yvette were out there as well. Ride out was great, and the riding around there was fantastic. Eureka Springs is a great town, and is very MC friendly. You would like it!

Wink   Very close to the same weather conditions maybe a few degree's cooler in Western NC. The rain-fall totals are matching as well. I personally would like to target A travel date of May 19-29. coolsmiley

If this is the the start and end date we might be able to make this trip as well as do Colorado in Mid June  Shocked

If Ark is the choice we love Eureka Springs and Devils Den State park. We also have a nugget called rainbow drive resort, no it is not a rainbow resort  uglystupid2 it has Rainbow Trout here.  It is on the white river and long ------ I mean long John boats can be rented and the fishing is some of the best. Pigs trail is also nice, not no rattler but nice http://www.arkansas.com/scenic-byways/pig-trail/

Maggie Vally is definitely one place we would like to do. We have only driven through quite a long time ago.   I did not realize May was an option. It is good for us to get off in May and still enjoy brisk mornings.   It would be nice to hook up with Todd/Pennie and Bob/Michelle.  cooldude cooldude

Yes, that is a Friday and would hope to get a little more than half way and wake Sat morning to get to Ground Zero. Similar to the ride a few went on back in early Nov. they came up from your area and spent Thrusday night in Milton. Got up and left Friday AM but if that won't work We can get up early Sat. And get started.  coolsmiley

cooldude Have you seen this yet? Could be our ground zero?

Harrison--The Ozark Mountain town of Harrison has positioned itself as a hub for Arkansas motorcycle trips traversing Scenic 7 Byway through the Arkansas Ozarks. A brochure entitled “Motorcycle Riding Guide of the Ozarks” details several great motorcycle tours with Harrison as the home base. In Harrison, Scenic 7 takes a few turns and passes by the city's historic downtown district and Crooked Creek Park with Lake Harrison. The picturesque square features a striking courthouse, numerous renovated historic buildings with shops and restaurants, and the restored 1929 Lyric Theatre. Two museums here are worth a visit: Boone County Historical Museum and the Marine Corps Legacy Museum. A community of about 11,000, Harrison exemplifies the best of small-town life in Arkansas, even all of America. Norman Crampton agreed since he named Harrison one of "The Best Small Towns in America" in the 2002 edition.

Perhaps most appealing about the city, though, is that in an hour's time on U.S. 65, a rider staying at Harrison could be at the Buffalo National River, several prime trout fishing destinations, Eureka Springs (another motorcycling hot spot), Branson, Missouri, or simply checking out the countryside on some of the best motorcycle roads in Arkansas with virtually no traffic. For more information visit www.harrisonarkansas.org/lodging.php

Okay....have been looking around Harrison and Eureka Springs Ar. Looking on VRBO.com and hometogo for houses or cabins to rent. In the dates Farside is looking at they are there but not many. Any help here would be appreciated.
Around Maggee Valley there are still a bunch of them available.
Where to go this year is still up in the air. All suggestions welcome.
