Yeah, I was a plumber about 40 years ago.  It felt a little weird using the plumbing tools I haven't touched for a long time.  The pipes look better in the picture than in real life.  They don't line up exactly within the cover piece.  They sound like what I remember of a stock exhaust.  It almost entirely eliminated my issue with exhaust loudness.  Now the transmission is louder than the exhaust.

Gryphon, your pipes are cut off too short to use the approach I took.  Mine still had about 1.5 " left on them, so there was room to slip a plumbing fitting over the stub.  Maybe you can find a used stock exhaust.

Dale_K BTW, those were firemedic309's pics, not mine.

Another solution; at one time MarkT had piggies still welded to the back end plate that could be glued in place using muffler cement, after the existing piggies were ground flush.  Don't know if he still offers these, or if he even offered them for sale at the time.  Maybe he'll "pipe up".

I didn't know extending the piggies beyond the tips would make it quieter.  I like quiet.  Will give it a try this weekend.

so I put the stock pipes on, kinda a big job on  a Tourer. Replaced the exhaust bushings because they where shot also noticed the seal for the shifter was leaking, replaced it. Its raining today and I work tomorrow so looks like a Sunday ride to see how it sounds.  Any buddy need some modified pipes?  Have a nice sound just not for me.

I didn't know that either until I read this thread. And I wouldn't have to extend mine very far to get them outside of the exhaust tips only about 2 inches. By the time you get a coupler on there you only need another inch or so of conduit pipe to be beyond the end. I'm going to give it a try and the great thing is you can always change it around or remove it entirely

I think they will look better with the coupler further in where you won't see them.

It's pretty simple to accomplish with repair couplings.  Also the copper blackens nicely with heat, so no need to paint.

Well I did it.  I extended my stock piggies one inch outside the tips.  The pipe lengths where 2", 2 1/2", and 2 3/4".  They are hard to see, I have an Interstate.  Around town it didn't make much difference, but on the highway the drone was significantly reduced.  Now I need quieter tires.
