The jets are easily removed without taking out the floats, if you are just changing jets I wouldn't remove the floats.
But if you are that far into the carb already, might be a good idea to remove the float and inspect the float needle, I guess it would depend on why you opened them up in the first place.
it hydrolocked on the #2 cylinder so i'm replacing the float and needle on that carb. i just didn't want to pull the carbs if it can be done without removing them.
