Adrian,
While you will most likely be happier that the 190/55-17 will be about the same width in appearance as the stock Dunlop, you will not be happy with mileage returns.
Since the tire is actually intended for a 6 inch rim you will find that the tire is more bloated or high in the center. This will result in the bike turning in normal and then having a feeling of falling into the turn at a certain lean point.
I cannot confirm as of yet, but the mileage on mine is most likely going to be a little lower than the 180/55-17 I ran before this. Again this will be due to the high center tread or bloated appearance oif the tire.
This has been my observations so far.
I was wondering how this was working for you, thanks for the update.

I thought about a 190/55 but after research decided against it.
Although it will mount on a 5-1/2" wide rim a 6" is the preferred size.
My thoughts were, what you described my be the results. Thanks again for sharing yours. (results)
I'm shopping for a rear tire now, have a newer PR4 Trail on the front so I'll go with the PR4 rear again. I get about 4,000 mi. before wear bars show on the Mich..
I'm thinking next set I'll try the Pirelli's. (180/55)
