I fully support anyone's decisions to live their life however they like as long as it doesn't directly impact someone else. But I also fully support my right to point and laugh. Fully understanding others will point and laugh at me for something, and that's okay. Speaking of pointing and laughing, there are advantages to having a vegan girlfriend! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mB_xMeMMq-A

I remember eating a dish prepared by a couple old hippies (in that era) of rice, beans, noodles, bean sprouts, and other stuff. They apparently didn't believe in spices or salt either as it was bland as hell.
It wasn't that bad.
However, it had the same effect as Mag Citrate, Ex Lax and sugar free Gummy Bears (all together); explosively.
Food like that should come with a warning.

So I take it you were never invited back to the commune ?

First off, let me say I have no issue with people that don't want to eat meat. But some of them strike me as odd. On occasion they will come up to me and tell me how terrible meat is. Today a lady came up to the counter looking for something. I asked her if I could help her. She said no, she was a vegan and how healthy she was since giving up meat. I said that was good and went back to filling the case. She continued to follow me telling me how meat was bad for people and the environment. After a few minutes of this the smartass in me started to come out. I told her in my best British accent "If you don't eat your meat you can't have any pudding, how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat". She got a blank look on her face and turned and walked away. Along with not being a fan of meat, I don't think she cares for Pink Floyd either. Pros and Cons First off I work in the medical field - spend everyday working with sick folks and folks in pain. The problem vegetarians and vegans make is the same problem meat eaters make - excess. It is clear from science that eating a diet of 80% vegies and 10% carbs and 10% proteins is ideal fro health and weight but not always realistic. Fats are a real killer as are highly processed foods. Moderation is key to all things in life. If you are overweight or ill - try eating a lot less meat and a lot more vegies - you will feel better. If your a vegetarian who is tired a lot and frail etc.. try eating meat at least once a week, you'll feel better too and heal faster. Peace.

Yep, some of the new research seems to show that fat is needed and changing what they previously thought about cholesterol. Some of the really smart fellas now think that the brain needs more fat than they thought before and that low cholesterol levels are not as good as once thought. Some of the new research seems to show that low cholesterol may have something to do with the increase in Alzheimers disease.

I just ask them "what about tigers? Are they evil too?"
The whole conversation ends right there, every single time. If anybody ever answers that, I'll consider what they have to say.
Having said all that, I don't eat meat everyday. Sometimes she cooks meat, sometimes not. It's all delicious, and these days I don't give it too much thought.

The wonderful thing about that is, I'm the only one. I just ask them "what about tigers? Are they evil too?"

Well I could be "completely wrong - but I doubt it - and besides, I think you missed the point about moderation. Fat consumption is important, consuming the wrong types of fats is bad news... ask any diabetic what happens to their blood sugar when they eat a fatty food. Go ahead ask. Meanwhile back at the ranch.................
