When Hard6 and I rode to Maine to eat a big craw dad, we spent a week before we got out of Virginia - so much to see - history everywhere.  Original Colonies,  Revolutions, Civil Wars, great riding, got it all.......

Great choice!!!!!!  cooldude cooldude cooldude

Really looking forward to the possibility of making the trip, seeing all my old friends, making some new ones(I hope). Dang....that's a long way off.  Grin
John, it would be my privilege to meet you and share some great times!! cooldude
+1  cooldude I think you'd have about 300 or so that would enjoy it.  cooldude
Geez guys, that's kinda humbling. The feeling re. a meeting is mutual, through this club I've gained many a good friend over the years as I'm sure you all have. I certainly hope the trip comes to pass, and here's hoping Karen will also make it. We've only crossed paths once before that I can recall and that was quite a few years ago, looks like there will be some "catching up" to do with a lot of folk.  cooldude

Karen said she's making it, even if she has to bicycle there.

Roanoke, that's great, only 722 miles and I can do that in a day and a half if I can work out the logistics of someone to stay with my honey. Also have a great sis-in-law in Roanoke that I've not seen in a few years, by then she'll be 96 I believe, still lives alone. Just told my wife of the location, she said to start the planning now so if it works out I won't be stuck the last minute getting something fixed or replaced. Really looking forward to the possibility of making the trip, seeing all my old friends, making some new ones(I hope). Dang....that's a long way off.  Grin

I don't take kindly to long trips (in Indiana, and me, 500 miles is long) but I sure would like to make it in the Miata.  It's been about the same time since I seen both John and Karen (Bellaire) and a lot of others. John, iI'll bring some 18 year old scotch if I come.

I will be 90 if I go. Might be a record for a non rider in the VRCC.

As most of you know, the Valk is what ties us together but the ties are still there even if no Valk is present IMO.

Roanoke Virginia, looks like a 2 and a half days ride for me and the wife

Are you sure you mapped that right?  It's only 558 miles from you.

You are right. Normally a quick days ride for us but a great excuse to stop and see my sister in central p.a. For a day. Either way we will be there late morning on Sunday for early bird. If help is needed I am offering my assistance. Can't wait.....

So, I know the exact location of ground zero won't be revealed until registration, but have room rates been settled? Breakfast, WiFi included; that sort of thing?

Thanks!

Thanks for posting this information as it became available.   Whether or not it helps anyone else is something only they can answer but, there is no doubt it helps me plan.  Thanks   cooldude

Wayne, I sure hope both of us can make it, really looking forward to it. I'll be the youngster between the two of us....I'll only be 80 by then. cooldude  I think the last time I saw RJ before he passed was shortly after he turned 80, I chatted with him via phone a number of times after that but we never met again.

$99, very nice rooms, including breakfast and wifi.  Refrigerators in all rooms.
Breakfast is NOT like this year (sorry about that, but we learn our lessons).
Very nice breakfast buffet, available from 6:30 to 11:00.

There's more "free" stuff available at the $50 motel rooms Smokin' Joe
takes us to than there is at some of the fancy Hiltons that I occasionally stay
in for work... I'd rather be sitting on the sidewalk in front of my door
in a plastic chair than in a leather chair at the desk on the 23rd floor
when I try to select a network and a message comes up "enter your
credit card number..."

With Roanoke being so far from me, I probably won't be at IZ XVIII, but that all looks like a very good deal to me.  I very much preferred the breakfast and the room in which it was served in Asheville to the Billings breakfast offerings.

Now, how about a "no riding in the snow" guarantee?

But when traveling from the North Pole, there can be no guarantees.  Ehhhh?   Grin
