2014 Valkyrie... Are the handle bar riser stud bolts permanently attached to the risers OR will they come out?  I would like to try a 2-3 inch lift under the riser, but only if I can completely replace the stud bolts with longer ones.
Thanks   Denny

This may help, although I dont know if the studs come out of the risers, but if they didn't why couldn't you just get new risers and use bolts from the bottom?

The risers on our bikes are funny critters.  (I’m doing this from memory so I may mess up.) I made it to my computer so I have my notes in front of me.

The bolts on ours have a 12mm shaft; they are turned down at the ends and have an 8mm thread.  You can see that in the parts diagram Robert posted.

I was looking at replacing mine with risers from the old Valkyrie.  On ours the bolts appear to be cast into the riser; the same is true on the old Valkyrie risers.  So, replacing the bolts is very difficult.  It's cut and drill out.  Then thread the hole, or whatever you want to do to secure the adapted riser.

I converted one of the old Valkyrie risers and quit when I “blew up” the second one I had.  I have a replacement for the one I ruined but I just haven’t found the time (inspiration?) to continue the project.

I’ve learned to live with the handlebars as they are.

Good luck!

Bill

I just made a custom set of handlebars instead.  It worked for me.   coolsmiley

Thanks for the input.  This didn't come out as I would have hoped.  My thoughts were to remove the risers, then remove the studs and use a spacer under the original riser with a longer stud bolt.  I guess I'll have to rethink this project.  I just bought this Valkyrie and it has several upgrades including a Corbin seat.  I think this is part of the problem.  The seat sits me too far from the tank/handlebars.   I was hoping moving the bars would correct the problem and keep the seat.  Maybe not...

The major PITA to move the handlebars on that bike is the major reason why I don't have one.

The better solution might be to call Corbin and have them or someone who does custom seats modify the seat to put you further forward. That may not be all that hard or expensive and I know Corbin can and does things like that. I had a seat custom made and even got a fitting for the seat.
