I don't know if this guy was stupid or wasn't thinking.  It's incidents like this that cause an outcry, good or bad depending on personal beliefs, against guns in general.

so is he a teacher, mayor or reserve officer? I see mayor and reserve officer that teaches safety classes. Not very safe and considering it is coming from California and CNN not surprising.

The guy (who should've known better) violated two of the three rules of gun safety. The only one that he didn't violate was the first (IF the school didn't have a second floor.) If you look at the news, they slant it toward the student was hit by the bullet, probably, maybe, fragments from the ceiling tile.

You know, I sat through a number of firearms basic and safety classes in my lifetime (several in military service, rifle and pistol), and I can't ever remember any guns in the classroom being loaded.  In fact, they were pretty careful there was no ammo to be found anywhere in the classroom.  This included refresher training to serving Security Policeman (who presumably knew what they were doing).

Just how stupid do you have to be to shoot a loaded gun into a school ceiling?

There is a term for dufuses like this.... GUN SLOBS.

Like the guy at the range who comes to you with his auto jammed on a stovepipe, pointing it at you.  Punching them in the face is frowned upon, but that's what they have coming.

My other all time favorite was the two big guys (likely cons with the home made blue tattoos up and down the arms) next to me at a San Bernardino range with a brand new Freedom Arms 454.  After shooting it a few times, they went back to their car (behind us) and smoked up a big fat joint.  When they returned, I was already packed up and leaving.  I went and told the old (mean) range master on my way out, and as we looked down the line, one of them fired that bad boy and it left his had tumbling to the gravel, and they were giggling like school girls.

When they get around to arming SOMEONE in our schools, they would do well to have the NRA do the instructing (for free).  They have a 150 year history of knowing what they are doing.

Not at all.  Used to hunt and still have a couple of rifles. Member of the rifle team and pistol team in ROTC. Enjoyed it. I was an NRA member for a year or two in a more innocent age.  Don't support their politics or beliefs now though and I do have a problem with easy access to some weapons.   Please excuse me for that Smiley  Nor did I intend for the link to be controversial, just wanted to point out what gun owners have to overcome in the battle of public opinion. Gun Slobs as Jess called them.  In the publics eye gun owners are gun owners regardless of knowledge level. I could have made that more clear I guess. Sorry some had to immediatly attack it's source. I am fully aware that CNN and others spin  left just as Britbart, Fox and others spin right.  I have Britbart as well as CNN, DRudge report, The Hill, The Intercept and NYT bookmarked and peruse them daily to stay informed.  Just the headlines of the NYT as they require a subscription to access more than a few articles a month. Oh,and the BBC app.
