Today I'm the featured veteran of a series of stories by Kayleen Reusser.  Kayleen is a great person who has interviewed hundreds of WWII vets and now is doing the same for Korean Vets.  My Guest Column will appear in a week or so in this same link.

Very good stories, Wayne. Stories like yours are firsthand accounts of history, and need to be put down in writing. Kayleen did a nice job with the article as well.

Wayne,

Thanks for the memories! I spent a year in that country, too... a decade after you did. It was an amazing experience, and one that I will treasure always. No, my visit was not non-stop pleasure and laughs either, but it was an amazing 'coming of age event' in my life and a time of great awakening to the broader world outside the safe, cloistered community I'd known before that time... I am a different and better person for that experience, as I'm confident you are, as well... Anyway, thanks again for triggering the many meaningful thoughts of that special time in my own life...

Jess, I don't think that my duece had Corbin seats. Didn't spend much of my time in them because of the bouncing due to rough makeshift, narrow roads.
I spent much time stopping for 'piss call' since it would jar the piss out of you driving those roads. No seat belts either.  Note the rear view mirror? I met another duece coming the other way one time and heard a crack and the mirror was a bloody stub. THAT was a close call.

Bruce. You probably was there at a transitioning time.  When I was there the country was a mess. Today South Korea is completely different as you know. Yes, I agree with you. That was a period that changed my outlook on life to the better. It was a good experience.
