Cheaha Lite this year will be the weekend of April 20-22 at Oxford, AL(I-20, Exit 185) in the shadow of Mount Cheaha as it was last year.

The motel has not been finalized yet but will be shortly. Information will be posted in the next few days.

I believe we had 7-8 bikes last year which wasn't too bad for the first renewal. Hopefully a few more will show up this year. Marcus made it all the way from Houston.

Looking forward to good weather a little riding and visiting.

Maverick, (Leon)

I was just in Oxford 2 weeks ago for a meet n greet  with Goldwing riders. We stayed at Americas Best Value Inn. My room was cleaned and towels changed each day. A few folks thought there beds were a little hard , but I didnt find that a problem. We didnt ride Cheaha . Our day trip was about 60 miles to Barber Museum . Another group went to Talladaga- speedway tour.  Enjoy your trip.

Just curious why you don't do it on the mountain ? Never missed a Cheaha rally when it was on top .

Just curious why you don't do it on the mountain ? Never missed a Cheaha rally when it was on top .

As all who attended one of the original Cheaha's know, Tim put in a tremenduous amount of effort into planning and promoting the rides and they were highly sucessful. Most rides included a "program" for Saturday night including food, prizes, free beer, and live intertainment. The last ones included using the Park Lodge with a fair amount of financial exposure for him. The Saturday night activities needed the Park facility

This Cheaha revival was never intended to try to compete with the original. The intention was/is simply to provide a location for a few/bunch of folks to get together to visit. eat and do a little riding in this area to kinda open the season.

Why not up top?
Dining up top is limited to the Park restuarant which is mediocre and somewhat expensive in my opinion. A large variety of eating places are available down in Oxford.
The rooms in the Park motel are fairly expensive. Many people had trouble making reservations
since they seemed disorganized.
The parking area is not level and dropped bikes in the parking area were common.
We don't need the facility for our purposes cooldude

We'll be using "Red Carpet Inn" this year. It's located on I-20, Exit 285 in Oxford, AL. The motel is about a block North of I-20 and on the East side of AL21 behind Arby's and Burger King.

Parking is at the rooms. A modest breakfast bar is provided. The rate will be $51.00 including tax for two doubles or one king and up to two people in the room.

The phone number for making reservations is 256-831-6082.

When making reservations, tell them you're with the, "Valkyrie Group". cooldude

No, unfortunately, we are not going to be able to make it. Life is getting in the way for this date.  Lord willing, next year might work out. Embarrassed

No-can-do... I've been watching this thread for some time, and I was wanting to make it there... However, something else has come up, so I have another commitment elsewhere... maybe next year...

Well, the verdict is in.  Blood test although a tiny bit better than last week; not good enough for making the trip.  Sights still set on INZANE.

Have fun. Breakfast on the mountain was always my favorite part  Cheesy
