I've gotten two post pulled almost immediately by Carl. I don't think that they were combative but he does.

I'm off this Forum, now. Please don't tell me to not let the door close on my ass.

Great knowing everyone.

Wayne, solo1  End.

Solo,

You have presented balanced arguments without being totally combative.  Good luck and thank you for you insight and experience.

Wow, I post some pretty provocative stuff sometimes and the only post that was ever pulled was a joke i posted that Daddio took offense to. It had to be pulled due to the backlash but I understand.

Take a break, but don't stay away long Wayne.  Please.

All of us (that count) enjoy and appreciate your wisdom, experience and always interesting posts on here.

Don't let a bump or two in the road knock you out of the game (and our happy, but occasionally discordant, community).

Come on back now, ya'hear?

I don't normally bother to explain but since Solo1 put it out in the open for everyone to talk about I will this time.

I locked a thread (conversation) because it had gotten out of hand, degrading into name calling and general disrespect.  I really do get tired of having to remove posts over and over again because people can't follow a few simple guidelines.

If after I lock a thread some chooses to open a new thread with the explanation of "the other thread was locked but I have something more to say" I'm pretty sure that the continuation of the conversation is going to go the same place as did the conversation being appended.  That thread simply gets removed.

When a thread is locked it is because the conversation has gotten out of control.  That conversation is ended.

I just got off the phone with my dad. He is DONE. He has removed the VRCC from his favorite page. He is not coming back.
The thread he started this morning was to make a statement about the Hogg thread that got locked. I read it and responded to it. It wasn't derogatory in any way or hinged towards anyone here. My response mentioned no names but it was pulled anyway. This is not the first thread he has had pulled. He was chastised once for mentioning Facebook on here but I have seen others post about FB without any perceived repercussions. He feels that he has been singled out because he no longer rides a motorcycle. Don't know if this is true, I'm am just saying that is the way he feels. With that being said don't look for any posts from Solo1 from this point forward.......

So, is there a timeline on re-introducing a topic...? What about the pleasant or productive members of said conversation? The idea of stopping all dialog on a subject for the actions of one or two individuals seems counter productive. Perhaps a 24 hour ban of the individual who initiated the insulting diatribe would be a more direct response to a violation of the conduct rules.  I was in the military also and I understand the peer pressure, one's mistake is the groups mistake ideology, however, it proves ineffective when the repercussions are not applicable to an "online" group.

Northern, sometimes only a post or two is removed from a thread.  But when the whole thread gets to fighting and disrespecting, the whole thread may get pulled (it's easier and less work).  The moderator does not like having to do it, and if you come right back with a continuation of the deleted thread, it may get pulled too in exasperation.

The rules here are pretty simple.

The moderators aren't paid to be here all day to moderate and fix things. They aren't paid at all.

The idea is for us to keep it reasonable and to moderate ourselves.  When we don't, sometimes the result may be seen as heavy handed.  But that's not it, it's just the easiest and quickest solution.

If people would stick to arguing the issues and not with each other (libs vs conservatives 99% of the time), there wouldn't have to be any moderator actions at all.

If you don't like someone (or what they post).... don't talk (post/respond) to them.  Silence really works better than calling people idiots anyway.

I disrespect the government, insurance companies, dealers, businesses, the weather, libs in general, the press/media, politicians, women drivers, cell phone drivers and texters, young people, old people, colleges and universities, teachers, marriage, and everyone else I can think of all the time.  But I don't disrespect fellow members and posters.  Sometimes I argue the issue with them, but if I think they are are from outer space, I don't talk with them at all (ever).  I don't think I've ever had any posts deleted..... or if so, not for a long time.

Finally, here's another trick of the keyboard trade.  If you really feel the need to take a poke at someone, make it funny.  It's much harder and takes some creativity, but it generally won't violate the rules of this great forum.

I know most of you guys will. Joe you have him as a friend on (you know where) so you can still see his posts there. I wont say where that is because it might get me in trouble here. Anyone else who wants to see his posts just go there.  I really doubt he will change his mind this time......
