Yep, you read that right! We went an looked at the 1999 250 Rebel I saw on Craigslist and it was as described. Put some air in the tires and filled up at the gas station. Now the 101, the 10 and the 60 from Glendale thru Phoenix and out to Mesa is all posted 65 mph but that is really treated as a suggestion. If I did not Have Andrea in her Subaru watching my back, I probably would not have ridden it home. The bike would do 53-67 mph depending on the incline of the highway. We stayed in the HOV all the way. Not much better way to test a new bike than about an hour with the throttle pegged. It was surprisingly not as uncomfortable a ride as I thought it might be

A friend of mine bought a crotch rocket years ago and did not have a cycle license. He asked me if I would ride it back to his house 35 miles away. I had never been on one so why not. After about 10 miles I I knew why. All hunched over like a monkey doin a beach ball, the front end transmitted everything into your body and my 6'1" frame just did not fit. A car pulled up next to me at a stop light. The 30ish passenger pointed and began laughing. I know why.

congrats!  surprised you did not top out over 70 mph..... Grin   also surprised you did not feel like a giant riding a mini-bike because that is what I felt like when I was test riding one last year.    My kid now 1 year riding and 5K miles last year age 17 now thinks he needs a bigger/faster bike now than what I bought him last year being a 1997 honda 750cc magna.   He is thinking used VMAX used but told him HIS EXPENSE since know it will be faster, but not handle the corners as well.  Told him speed is NOT everything.  Nothing wrong with the magna, so why not keep it is fairly comfy and fast and agile.    Also saw a 2015 used F6B for 5400 bucks thought it was a scam until I saw the mileage over 90K miles on it.

I prefer to be able to do around 75 mph if needing to pass someone doing 55 mph speed limit.

I know my 250cc scooter will do 76-77 mph top speed level pavement as registered by my GPS while driving it, but much past 70 mph that little engine gets VERY buzzy but at 65 mph can run all day long no issues, or at least I hope?  Longest one way ride on it is 100 miles and that is plenty far enough.

Cheesy Could that have been you we saw? The wife and I were vacationing in Scottsdale and left yesterday for home. We were on 101 for a bit headed back to the Airport. Would have been too funny if you were headed the other way and we passed.  laugh

Good deal.   cooldude    They are very nice basic motorcycles.  Keep the carburetor clean.

I see you wear full face.

I've only worn (good DOT) halfs for decades.  When I had to go out of state to find/buy my only new bike ever (1500 Mean Streak), I discovered to my great discomfort that riding on the freeway (70+) with no shield made my half helmet (with bill) try to strangle me with the chin strap.  It was bad too.

When it was time to sell our CM 250 the first guy to show up was very excited about it, and learning to ride, and he had cash.  He had no MC endorsement, so it was going on a trailer.  But he was like 6' 7."  I told him I'd love to sell it to him, but do me a favor and get on it (on the center stand).  His knees hit the handlebars, and it only got worse when he turned them lock to lock.  He saw the problem and asked what to do.  I told him to look for a dual sport with tall seat and long suspension.  The next guy was normal size, and the sale was made.

At 5'9" I've been able to ride any motorcycle ever made with no problem (except crotch rockets and any other bikes that use your nuts as part of the suspension are out).

Happy motoring.  Smiley

My wife and I toured 11k miles in korea on the back of this hot rod
http://www.hyosungmotorsusa.com/new_product/introduction.asp?Cat=Cruise&model=GV250&year=2017

I had this bike up to 100 mph alone, wind to my back, downhill etc... but it would tour with all our gear, my 275lb self and 140lb wife and cruise at 80 mph. Amazing little bike, 250cc is the largest bike available in Korea without paying a 100% import tax and special license and insurance.  We rode it for 8 months (the first 125cc bike didn't last long!!!) and enjoyed every minute of it. It's not the size of the engine in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the engine!!!!

The wife learned on a Rebel for 2-3 years before she moved up to a Magna.  Great starter bike.  Never a problem with it.  Put on several thousand miles and sold it at a profit.  Constantly got offers to buy it by riders wanting a trainer for their wives.

The F6B is not listed anymore

I was a little suspicious because it was listed as an automatic.

But, I figured that it couldn't hurt to try.
