Just got back from day two of chemo therapy. Whatever you think of getting chemo, or how you feel about others taking it. When YOU are faced with the decision it's a little different.

I researched a few alternate treatments and it became clear to me that alternate options like canibus oil and other plants and herbs you can juice come with some big promises but mostly seem to be better at preventing symptom progression.

Since my problem is in DNA. I really couldn't see that being reversed by a plant. And as for the canibus, I would have had to be on a very high concentration and build up a tolerance to get to a therapeutic level. I don't want that.

So, since the track record for these specific drugs for this particular problem are reported to be very effective (and I got several opinions). I elected to go for it.

I don't see it as a compromise or cop out, lack of faith or any thing like that. Simply the best course of action to get me healthy again.

After saying all that I have no adequate words to describe the feeling when the nurse comes in wearing a bio hazard suit with heavy gloves and hangs a bag of essentially poison with big orange warning labels on it. Then proceeds to hook it up to your body and let it run in.

However, I feel good after the two days (one more to go) and I am looking forward to a more normal life soon.  Continue to pray that my blood numbers are strong enough for the trip to INZANE or maybe even Cheaha.

Good luck Jeff, we're pulling for you.

What Bill said  :cooldude: I sure can't imagine what you are going thru, but I hope you know you have many friends pulling hard on that rope.

Hang in there Chris, really hoping you can make it to Inzane, you're on the short list of "Folks I haven't yet met face to face and want to."

You're whole post was great.

Except this part: After saying all that I have no adequate words to describe the feeling when the nurse comes in wearing a bio hazard suit with heavy gloves and hangs a bag of essentially poison with big orange warning labels on it. Then proceeds to hook it up to your body and let it run in.

Man, that sucks.  And sounds way too close to an execution for comfort (by lethal chemotherapy).

But you've done your homework, and it sounds to me like you've made the right decision.

The ganja, sitar music, incense, chanting and herbs and spices really isn't medical treatment, as you know.  If you had a make believe disease, a make believe treatment might be good.

Having elected the real down and dirty treatment, I'm praying it pays off for you (as are we all).

I will freely admit that facing this would scare me far more than someone shooting at me (at least I understand that, and could fight back, or run away).  But you can do neither.

I'm real happy you report feeling good afterwards, that's certainly not always the case with chemo.

Hang tough Jeff (easy to write, not easy to do).

Well Oss, I am hoping for no hair loss.  Finished the third of three days of treatment today.  Now I get 3 weeks off and do it again.

Pappy!

I have a good friend of mine going through the same treatment.
His first series of treatments were met with good to great results. All the numbers dropped as hoped.
The second set of treatments were harder on him and his hair began to fall out. He is still doing well and the numbers continue to drop.
He is going through his third and last treatment at the high levels he has to endure. That was Monday. He said this one kicked his butt. This one has been the toughest so far but again he is enduring.
Hoping for the best (for both of you) and prayers as well. Hope to meet you one of these days as well.

When my father had cancer the local health food/ nutritionist prescribed all kinds of cures. My dad didn't fall for it.  Two years later the nutritionist died of cancer.
When my brother died of cancer the chiropractor said that if my brother would have kept coming in to see him he wouldn't have died.  My brother went to a different chiropractor.   My chiropractor died of cancer.
Until we are put in that position we don't know how we will react.  There are a lot of ups and downs and I hope you have nothing but ups from now on.

When the chips are down it is best to count on the Lord and science-based
medicine, not chiropractors and health food stores... I expect Jeff is doing
all the right things...

Thank you Mike.  So many opinions, you want to believe some of the crazy things. I do trust the Lord first, my Dr. and lastly and leastly the meds.  I feel strongly that Im doing what I am supposed to do

Hopefully we can all talk about better things face to face in June

God gave mankind the minds that discovered the cures that we have.

Prayers sent for healing for you and for wisdom for your Dr's.

Looking forward to seeing you in June.

Jeff,

I pray you and your family have the strength to face your situation.  I feel your pain and anxiety......

I've been dealing with my lymphoma going on three plus years now.  Like you I have had plenty of time to reflect on life's priorities.  I came up with  1) Trust in your God and pray for his help, 2) My wife is my guardian angel and she watches out for me and I for her.....I know she worries more than I do, 3) Trust your doctors.....Trust but verify, 4) Stay as healthy as you can.....your body is going through hell with the drugs you are getting, 5) Pray that drug company research develops new, better, easier on the body cancer drugs.  Lastly....just enjoy life.

I'm in the second (28 day) cycle of my 12 cycle cancer drug research program.  I'm so tired of needle sticks now I feel like a pin cushion.   Kind of know what your going through.....it's not easy and can be scary.  But we gotta do what we have to do..........

Again, I'll ask God to give you and your family strength to get you through this.....Take care.
