I'm still working a deal for a Valk, but I'm suddenly very concerned. The bike I'm in the works for is almost 4 hours away, so I got the urge to go have a look at one in person before I make the trek. I found a local place with a very used one in stock. Not interested in the bike, but figured I could use it for ergonomics, etc.

I don't fit. Damn. Double damn. I'm a long-legged 6'4", and I definitely felt pretty compressed on it, to the point that I question whether it's possible to make me comfortable on a 1500 Valk at all. Yes; there are highway pegs, but I know I wouldn't want to use them constantly. Can an Ultimate King seat really make it workable?

Tall folks please respond. I'd hate to think I've been wanting a Valk for 20 years, and it just can't happen.

I'm 5'19", been riding my Valk everywhere I can for almost 18 years now... (Including an Iron Butt Saddle Sore 1000, and over 120,000 total miles) A peg lowering kit and a custom lifted seat (I went with HartCo) make a WORLD of difference...

Sold my last Valkyrie 6 months ago but Ultimate King Big Boy seat and Showchrome risers to raise the bars and bring them back an inch and Chet's peg lowering kit made it just perfect.  The lowering kit lowers the drivers pegs an inch and forward up to 3.  If you can find a set of these the foot brake line is stretched a bit but still works fine.  I think I saw where someone else is making the peg lowering kit.  Maybe Mark T. I am 6'3"

Most of my motorcycle comfort prayers were answered with the addition of Mick O Pegs and an Ultimate seat.   Everyone that rides a motorcycle makes changes to make that bike their own for both looks and comfort.  I have no doubt you will find the right combination if, you try.

If not, then pass on that good deal on the Valkyrie to one of us.   Wink

I am a long legged 6'4" and weigh 250.  My Valkyrie has a Mustang seat, 6 inch risers from
scoot Works, cobra floor boards, heel toe shifter, and highway pegs.  I love it!  I rarely use the highway pegs except on really long rides.

The only problem I have is with the heel toe shifter.  My boot will not fit between the front and rear shift pegs.  Not a big problem when on open fairly straight highway, ... I just ride with my heals on the board and my toes pointed slightly out.  If you have that problem, take "warning" here and read this post: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,100368.0.html   I don't drag the boards for a good reason.  Even so, the edge of my boot often touches the pavement on twisty roads.

I have had the forward control kit for ten years, I use it all the time. You retain
the regular controls and also have forward controls.

The forward controls lack the "feel" of the regular controls. I wouldn't want to
count on having to use them exclusively, for me they're my "cruising along
with my feet up" controls.

Roidfingers,
Thanks for the info.  However, I happen to be one of those guys with very little money to spend.  To make the matter worse, I love to build my own stuff.  Hence, all the junky home made stuff on my ride.  I have been thinking about the design possibilities of a completely new shift linkage setup.  Maybe someday I will get it done.  But you are right, remedies are available.

Well, your not far away Roll Eyes Don't know when you planned your ride to look at possible deal.
I've got a I/S with ultimate king seat and floor boards that I put on for better comfort. I am not long legged but my knees and hip don't like to be cramped. Weather depending I can move things around next Saturday morning and pull bike out of garage for a fit test. It does have simple pegs mounted to case guards as well. Haven't renewed reg or insurance yet do to weather and time. I don't think I can get a chance before then.

I'm 6' 2" tall and near 230 lbs. I'm still on the stock seat with a backrest road pegs and 1" over stock risers. Find out before if it has stock shocks 13" I believe cuz other shorter lengths ARE out there. Lotsa times in our classifieds there is some used or no longer needed "stuff" for sale. If you see unobtanium mentioned in the ad prepare for Severe sticker SHOCK!  Roll Eyes These machines of ours are Very adaptable to different sized folks ridin em. A bit of knowledge and watchin yer pennies will help. Hope you end up with yer Lady!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Oldsmokey, you are the best. No hurry. I appreciate the favor. Your I/S sounds just like how I'd probably set mine up. Feel free to send me a private message when it's accessible (Again, no hurry. You're doing me the favor. Even if it's in the garage, but able to get to and hop on, that's fine too. I'm careful and respectful of other people's things).

Have I ever mentioned how much the people here rock??

If you think a valkyrie is cramped, good luck finding a cruiser that is not. Maybe you would feel better on a dual sport?

I had a Kawasaki Vulcan Mean Streak with Jardine FWD controls. It had ample room. That said, I was wondering if forward controls would even work well on a Valk. The cylinder heads are kinda where my feet would want to go.

Thankfully, Oldsmokey lives in the same town that I do, and has graciously offered to let me test fit on his I/S that has the Ultimate King seat. Hopefully, that will be enough to take away the cramped feeling.

There is not much getting around the foot position. If I didn’t have a lowering kit and hiway pegs I wouldn’t be able to do long trips. And I’m only 70”.

Figured I'd follow up on this thread.

Yesterday, I was able to swing by oldsmokey's house and test fit on his Valk with the Ultimate King seat and floorboards. Funny sidenote, to me anyway, is that he lives about 3 houses away from me; right around the corner. I walked there. Well, I do believe I'm back in the game. Stock Valk = no good. Seat upgrade and some control mods = green light.

Thanks again oldsmokey!
