A lot better luck than a guy here in Cookeville, TN this week.  Leaning on a bucket truck when the bucket contacted a power line.  He didn't suffer.  Doubt he even knew what happened.

He's kinda made a side career with these spoof videos:

His Youtube channel if you want more:

And his more viewed video, including a current events anti-freedom rant even:

I only know 2 things about electricity. It hurts when you get it on you and it's hard to wash off.

I remember the first time I got a good shock like it was yesterday. I was 14 and cleaning up a meat band saw. Water is everywhere and I'm spraying it down with a hose. Water got in the cord connection, came back thru the spray and nozzle. Knocked me clean off my feet and on my butt. 220 V packs a punch.  Shocked

I think we all have in our lives (or most of us)  done something stupid with fire or electricity, etc. or for sure know someone who has

I being a dumb _ss darn near blew up my right arm and body a few years ago pouring 87 octane GAS from a near full 5 gallon gas can on our campfire from what I thought was a safe 5-6 foot distance away.  Well, the fire was not going at the time but was warm at the time and it instantly caught fire and a flame of FIRE came up my pouring gas stream me backing the gas can off at the last second before it would have exploded right on my right arm blowing UP and me as well.  Learned a stupid lesson to use only lighter fluid from here on out NOT raw 87 octane gas especially with a full gas can as well   uglystupid2

My brother in high school got ZAPPED 110 volts from live wires in our parents house did not know they were live wires touched them together and knocked him on his butt instantly thought he was dead for a second.

As someone who has worked with electricity, mostly 3 phase for 40 years I really got a kick out of that video and his other videos I've seen as well. I disagree with his opinion concerning which hurts worse, ac or dc in a different video. He votes ac, my experience is dc but it depends greatly on the circumstance obviously. Either way, his videos are a riot and I'm sure they do involve a certain about of pain.  Grin

Until 3 years ago, standing on wet floors troubleshooting live 480 panels was my daily job. When I broke my leg on the Valk I worked from an electric wheel chair so I didn't lose my vacation time. I would roll up to a panel and then stand on one leg on a wet floor to do what needed done. My co-workers were big on putting wheel chair parking signs up everywhere, hiding my crutches and disconnecting my damn wheel chair battery all of which I got a huge laugh out of. People are too damn sensitive today to be sure.

In my new job the floors are always dry, the equipment is good and our 3 phase in only 240 VAC so it's a less intense job electrically speaking although troubleshooting $750,000 machines can be stressful.

I have noticed some machinists seem to be jumpy about electricity which is a great source of amusement for me from time to time.  Grin

I have watched these before, we actually use some in our safety meetings. I also work with electricity every day. I design and build control cabinets. Mostly 3 phase 380 and 480. But we do everything. A.C. is not nearly as bad as DC. You can get away from a.c., dc grabs a hold of you.

i remember my first contact with electricity. I was 3 and my parents bought me a night light. I decided I wanted to see what made it light so I took the bulb out and stuck my finger in the socket. I found out what made it light. Never forgot that feeling.

One night a few years back we were woken up by panic'ed shrieking from one of the triplets. She was probably 3 or 4 at the time, when we got to her bedroom she just shrieking and holding her hand, after a bit she started screaming "THE BUTTERFLY BIT ME! THE BUTTERFLY BIT ME!!!!" over and over...

Took us a minute to figure it out. She had a butterfly night light, and evidently was playing with it, unplugged it just enough to get her fingers to the plug and yup... it bit her...

THAT one at least to this day respects electricity and doesn't play with plugs...

The other two still need to learn... (Especially Blake, I really gotta keep an eye on that one!)

Yeah, all bathroom facing, outside facing, and the multiple dedicated circuits for the fish room are behind GFCI, but I haven't yet replaced all circuits in the house... yet...

If you are concerned that he might injure himself, it might be easier and cheaper to just replace the individual circuit breakers with ground fault breakers. Instead of have to replace each outlet.

Frankly, I'm not terribly worried about the lethality of 110AC, and while like hoping your kid gets Chicken Pox, I won't MAKE it happen, I kinda look forward to him getting bit so he'll learn, since you'll never learn to not touch a hot stove until you've done it...
