Cut our teeth on two Stroke street bikes. I had a Suzuki 500 Titan, my bro in law had a 500 Kaw, as did his cousin, who also had a 350 Yammy, his crazy cousin had a 750 Kaw triple. We were the kings of blue smoke for sure.

Although I doubt I would enjoy it as much now. Comfort is King nowadays. I could beat Honda 750's stoplight to stoplight. At 16 a lot of my disposable income went into milled heads, expansion chambers, racing fairings, etc. I thought I was the next Kenny Roberts

My first street bike was a 72 350 triple. Bought it on a Friday, following Wednesday headed to Washington DC, from northwest Iowa. Thought I had it made.

It is nothing short of amazing to hear the same comment from those who grew up on the H1 and H2 bikes. "It's a wonder we ever lived" Both were wicked fast. The H2 would still hold it's own very well against the best of the best today.

I had a 71 H1 when I was 17 years old, and your right we all have the same thought of “ lucky to have lived through it”. They were just soooo much faster and accelerated like crazy compared to any other machine of the day. I doubtt any of us were prepared for what the machine could do.

When I was in high school, I used to hang out at the corner gas station in the evenings. There was a guy with a purple 750 and black Bassani expansion chambers who would frequently go by there on one wheel ... There's a 500 down at the local Suzuki shop. I was very suprised by how small it seems. -Mike

How we lived thru those days is a miracle. Back in the 80's I was riding a Honda CB750F, one of my cousins had bought a Yamaha 350 two stroke. I climbed on it one day to take it for a spin and damn near took it and myself out. I goosed the throttle to beat a yellow light and the next thing I knew the rear tire was spinning and I was sideways.

All those Kawi's had way too much speed under you and never, ever, enough brakes. Screamed for Jesus a couple of times on my buddy's '71 750 "triple tubes of death". We were stupid, we lived, though scarred.

We were stupid, we lived, though scarred. In reality none of those bikes with drums were very good. At least none of the bikes I owned. When disc brakes started coming out it was like night and day. My buddy on his 500 triple would always kick my butt on the straights, but when we got to the mountains he could never keep up. Probably more a matter that he was more sensible than the abilities of the bikes.

Rode one of dem 750 triple ringy dingy things. 2nd gear 20 or so M P H grabbed a handful and she went straight up and kept accelerating. Handle bars glued to my sternum and STILL accelerating. FINALLY got dat sumbitch back on two wheels turned around and did it again! Only THIS time I wuz ready for it. IF my rekememberer is still wurkin and judging by the other comments it are that cursed thing WUZ and most likely Still IS scary cursed FAST. Being somewhat polite here the brakes DID suck. BUT what a RUSH! Too frikin bad gubmint legislated two strokes out of existence. My 125CC Yamaha thumper I motocrossed in Japan for the size of the engine and my 240 pound + frame did rather well all things considered. Cheap fun motocrossing and thought nothing of tearing out the engine split the cases and rebuild the thing at the track to make the last moto. Good memories. RIDE SAFE.

Currently I have a '71 H1A Blue ,will probably always have that along with my '73 H2A purple all original I bought new for $1430.0 out the door. This one has 4600 miles on it from new never rebuilt all with factory paint still . Had other triples trough the years . 1970 Red H1 all original really wish I had kept that one. Bought a new 1973 H1D $1180.00 out the door. That bike was crazy fast with a disc brake first year for that. Had a 1976 KH 500 (same H1 bike, Kawasaki changed the designation in 1976 to K models. Z1 went to KZ and the H1 went to KH 500. That bike was dead reliable rode it all over the country. That one was $1295.00 out the door. Drag raced them for years , my 1971 H1A went 11.80's @115 mph on a set of cylinders I ported with chambers and carbs . Ported another 1973 H2 with chambers and carbs , that one went 10.50 @ 123 mph . Still have tons of parts . Amazing bikes how did we ever survive them . I loved it all. Roadog Ride safe
