Going to be buying some new tires, going to go with the Avon Cobra's (Unless someone wants to advise me otherwise).

Are these the right size?

Avon Front Cobra AV71 150/80HR-17 Blackwall Tire - 90000001166

Avon Rear Cobra AV72 200/60R-16 Blackwall Tire - 90000001154

-------------------

I'm also in need of new Valve stems, the front one is leaking.... what are the recommendations for these?

Jess from VA

The OE rear size is 180/70R16 (radial)

Some run 200 rears, but I cannot advise on the 60 profile on the 200 you listed vs ordinary 70 profile.

Though that may indeed be usual 180 to 200  tire difference.

I like these. Many like the ones with the nut on the outside.

I can't pay $20 for shipping on a $1.65 item haha
Buy 10. You are going to need 2 at a minimum. It's nice to have extras on hand for your friends that haven't seen the light yet.  :coolsmiley:

Bought them off of his eBay shop and ordered tires, following Jess's suggestions! Should be here Tuesday.

Jeez Murf, I didn't make any suggestions, I only reported you had the right front size and I wasn't sure about your rear (and gave the OE rear size).

If you ordered OE size front and rear's, you should be golden.

The advice on metal stems is solid.

Be careful of (tire manufacturing mold) release agent.  It's not your friend.

Oh no, that 200/60 is on you.  :2funny:

Hah, no worries. I'm happy putting it OEM to see how I like it, then swapping later. This bike has been a real project for me and I'm enjoying it.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep y'all posted on these tires.

So is there an alternative as to where you can get the valve stems "without having to pay $15.00 shipping for a $1.86 part?
I feel more like I do now,than I did a while ago.

They are $2.00 each here. 2 valve stems and shipping comes to $11

Just found out Riders Domain is a new name for Jake Wilson. They used to have a sale, no shipping charge, about every 2-3 months. If you can wait, wait for a sale. Someone usually posts it.

Bought 5 for $15 from this seller:

https://m.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-90-degree-tire-valve-stem-Goldwing-/111805846748?txnId=1799159687001

He emailed me afterwards and told me he thought I offered $5 for 3 and not $3 for 5 (each), but would honor it anyway

The Avon 200 will likely require the nut cage modification due to the extra width, but the tire should work fine. That is my next tire for the Tourer. Have Cobras on my Kawasaki V2K and love them.

I have just (yesterday) fitted a Avon Cobra 200/60/16 to my Standard & it does not need the nut-cage mod it fitted in just the same as a 180/70/16.
