days I got to ride to work

the 1150rt p is now over 70,000 miles and going strong.

no parts fell off today. Actually the only thing to fall off in 8 yrs was the amber lens that sits just below the front side of the radio box

Not too shabby

It was in the upper 70's today and will be again tomorrow

Sunday will top in mid 40's

I have searched far and wide for that lens, cant find one   Angry
have also written to Santa Monica PD as they were the prior owners
Maybe someday will get a response

Considering where you live and what time of year, that is an accomplishment. Lucky for me living in AZ, I have been able to ride to work every day since July 26 (the day after being cleared by the doc to ride after my accident.

Cool looking bike Oss. Tried to get out today but we’ve had a lull is shop work so it was maintenance work on the work trucks along with some spring housekeeping/ maintenance on the building and around the yard. By the time I got home I was beat and in desperate need of food and a shower. Tomorrow is get out and ride time, sunny and mid70s. Smiley

Evan, this is probably more time and effort for a lense than you'd care to do. But there may be a vintage car restorer nearby already set up for this.

What you want to do on that part is call motorcycle salvage yard(s).  Go to some parts fishe and get a part number if possible.

I don't know about bikes, but most reputable big auto salvage outfits are connected together by some big network computer setup, so if one doesn't have your part, they'll find who does for you.

I had a bad experience with bike salvage refusing to send me a pic (bag lid), and the part turned out to be very serviceable (which is all they promised), but also beat up worse than my ability to fix. The body shop work/paint was very reasonable, but the used part, plus body work, added up to more than a new part (and that will always piss you off).

These are cool bikes (you just need to get one of those AR15 mounts and a rifle for for NYC)  Grin

Jess

The bike came with the shotgun and rifle mounts

They are on the right front crash bar   cooldude

I suppose that you could get an AR in there with no problem

There is a nice chrome and accessory place off 78 just before Midway in PA where I got red reflectors that I installed where the clear ones are on either side of the rear plate  Last time I passed thru I picked up 2 sets of amber lights that I may end up cannibalizing to replace the missing lens if push comes to shove

BMWs are the sickest bike on the road

Spent a bit of time at BMW rallies. Great fun. Great riders. Good campers

Ride on........while you can

that is just broken in for a beamer.

I still remember when my uncle who was around my age at the time came over to my parents house with his neighbor who had the ugliest old 1970s beamer around all rusted but was a touring bike of its time.  I think it had over 300,000 miles on it and still going strong.  I would think it has been retired now some 35+ years later?
