https://www.reviewjournal.com/local/local-nevada/pahrump-based-radio-host-art-bell-dies-at-72/

Longtime late-night radio host Art Bell died Friday at his Pahrump home. He was 72.

Bell was best known for his unsettling conspiracy theories shared on his paranormal-themed show, “Coast to Coast AM.” He was fascinated with the paranormal and the unexplained, including Bigfoot, UFOs and crop circles.

Coast to Coast was syndicated nationwide on about 500 North American stations in the 1990s before he left the nightly show in 2002. He broadcast the show from Pahrump’s KNYE 95.1 FM, a station he founded. He was his own producer, engineer and host.

Bell retired several times in his career, which included a short-lived show on SiriusXM satellite radio in 2013

No single talk radio host was more influential to me than Art Bell.  I have been one that always sought out answers to the unexplained and no one did it better than Art Bell.  He started talk radio as a conservative commentator in Vegas, but that changed one night.  A caller wanted to know how he could get help with his medical problems from working at what he called the skunk works. Art not knowing about the skunk works, the caller explained that secret facility in the Nevada Desert where they back engineered UFOs.  Of course we know know this as Area 51, or Groom Lake.  Art almost immediately changed his format and  tackled the topics that just do not come up anywhere else at that time on radio, and boy did it work.  In 1993 Coast to Coast Am was born and from the start has ruled the night airwaves, with currently over 600 stations I believe.  He made Dr. Michio Kaku into a go to person for regular TV for science and several other folks also, Seth Shostak of SETI comes to mind.   Linda Moulton Howe, a fabulous researcher and interviewer of what she terms "High Strangeness" came to the forefront due to Art and is still going strong into her 70s.  Due to the guest he brought on ,that at one time would be 5 hour interviews, I was able to come to grips with a subject that plagued me since I was in a crib back in the lat 50s. and what that entity that was in my room really was.  I still consider Art the best interviewer no matter the subject.

R I P Art.  Now maybe you will have those answers that do not come easily in our material life.

When I worked afternoons we use to listen to Art as we worked. It has been awhile since I listened to him.  I recall this one guy he knew, I think his last name was Reed, not sure, any ways I guess they were camping or something. I recall something to the effect there was something larking at them and in fear picked something up and whacked the being thinking he kill it. So he took it home and put it in a freezer, I think he was trying to contact some to show what he had, and I think they treated him as a hoax.  He said that when he was home he later heard a bunch of noise in where the freezer was kept, and when he opened the freezer he found the being was alive.  He contacted some people to figure what to do, and he said he went some place for a short time, and as he was coming back he noticed a vehicle and people he did not recognize so he did not go home.  When the left, he finally went home and the being was gone.  And also one of the people that he contacted about the being suddenly past.  This was maybe 15 years back on Bell’s show, I know it sounds a bite scattered, but I am trying to dig in my memories about it. I finally got switched back to days and didn’t follow up on this Reed guy.  Anyone recalls or what I have said sound familiar to you? I recall this Reed guy kind of went in to hiding and would contact Bell from time to time, always wondered what happened to him.

You can google or bing Dr. Jonathan Reed alien encounter.  There is quite a bit of info out there on it including clips and possible full interview with Art Bell.  This took place originally in 1996 and it killed Dr Reed's  ( fake name by the way ) golden retriever.  He struggle with the grey and hit it with a rock in the head.  After taking it home it got much more crazy.  There are pics, but not good, of the creature and a stealth looking craft.  I think it was a hoax, I think most researchers in the community think it is a hoax, but the guy is still sticking to it to this day.  This one is just so out of the norm for greys, but hey what is normal.  Decide for yourself Dreamaker.
