Well finally after missing out on several opportunities over the winter and then those crazy late March snowstorms today was the day to get out. Barbara and I went out on the ‘Wing early, about 8:30 up to Sandy Hook National Park https://www.nps.gov/gate/planyourvisit/thingstodosandyhook.htm

We left the house and there were just slight wisps of clouds and sun was shining nice. We headed east to the ocean and rode through some nice small seashore towns...Asbury Park, Sea Bright, Belmar, Rumson, Spring Lake,Long Branch and a few others, the air was a lot cooler, about 15 degrees along the beach with an on shore breeze about 10mph. There were already many people out on the boardwalks doing their thing like running, walking, biking or going surfing but not too much congestion. We drove through Sandy Hook and people were already putting their feet in the water and had their beach chairs set up. It’s also a fantastic place for bird watching and there were dozens of folks out with their binoculars.

We couldn’t stop and stay because we had an 11:30 luncheon to attend, my H.S. graduating class was meeting for a little get together. The lunch was at a restaurant owned by another member of our class which is a nice little restaurant in Point Pleasant Beach. There were about 25 of us plus some spouses and the food was great. Those who knew me well weren’t surprised to see we came on the bike.

We stayed until about 2:30, made a quick pit stop at home and then headed south toward New Jersey’s Island Beach State Park which was another nice ride along the beach. We made it home about 5:30 so it was a great day with plenty of sun and fresh air.

It sure was Mike.   cooldude

Down here in NoVA, we had the same thing we get every spring; someone throws a switch, and we go from winter to summer in 2-3 days.  Left with my jacket, but after lunch, it was too hot to wear.  Nice group ride with about 7 bikes (Hogs, Hondas, Beemer, and a trike).  All back roads and spring bloom and green grass, new alfalfa, dogwood, forsythia.  All the horses and cows and vultures looked happy too.  First time all year, out all day long, and it was great.

I get asked this question from time to time, and it's always a hoot...... WHAT THE HELL KIND OF TIRE IS THAT!??   Well, I needed a tire real quickly, and it's off my grandma's Buick.   2funny

But dammit, I forgot to sunblock up and now I am a red faced injun. (with raccoon eyes)

Thanks for rubbing it in. 28 degrees outside and in the middle of an ice storm.
