Parts of your trip will be at high altitude (above 8,000'). Bring your cold weather clothes. Morning temps at the Canyon could be below 40Deg.

Iffn you're as close as 4 Corners, which is kinda tourist trappy IMHO, make the jaunt up and over Red Mountain Pass and the Million Dollar Highway via Durango, Silverton and Ouray.  It's an unforgettable ride, you will be tempted to turn around and do it again from the other side.  Or you could ride on from there to Delta thru Hotchkiss and Crawford and check out Hwy. 92 and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison,  which is a pretty darned awesome ride too.  Have a good trip wherever the roads take you.

Yup- The Million Dollar Highway is a " Must DO".  If you wind up in Montrose
and need some wrenchin' give me a shout. If not, I'd still be glad to buy you
a drink and swap some lies...

Rode the Valkyrie to the North Rim in 2010, was there the second day it was open.  Snow piled up on both sides of the road head high but great ride.  Never been to the South rim but North was worth the ride.  Arches National Park near Moab since you are that close might be doable.  Save the canyon ride until the end if you can stay that long.  Like DDT told us when we went out that way, if you have an opportunity to buy gas do it.  Stations are few and far between.

Be afraid my head brother, very afraid.  Grin But, yes Zion is a must do in my opinion. Bill, there are going to be many suggestions and all good. But, you are only going to have so much time. In my opinion it's not much fun to just haul ass from place to place so that you can see them all. The main thing is for you guys to enjoy yourself.  cooldude

One park no one seems to ever mention and so well worth the visit, is 'Mesa Verde National Park' Colorado.
Pull up a map and check it out. It is a well kept secret.  cooldude

If you go to Bryce, and then head over to Durango to ride the $1M hiway, I highly recommend taking Route 12 out of Byrce to Torrey UT.  It is one of the coolest roads as far as changes in terrain I have ridden.  From Torrey you can ride thru Capital reef  SP and take 95 SE to 191 N to Monticello, 491 E into Cortez, then 160 E into Durango, take 550 out of Durango   If you ride the $1M to Ouray, there is a great motel at the end of the first left as you get into Ouray. Oray Victorian Inn on 3rd  Ave.  My wife and I did the ride from Torrey to Ouray in one day, it was a hike but very doable.  Check out the satellite view and street views on Google maps.   Also highly recommend the Black Canyon of the Gunneson.

Routes are very fluid . .
Hammering down on i40 to get me into new mexico  14 to 84 into colorado . . To the four corners and then up the million dollar hwy . . From there im thinking shoot over into utah and meander a few days
Lots of good roads and sites thru there . . Hoping arches then bryce then down to the grand canyon .  .
Depending on time the ride home will be 40 all the way or a nice backroad cruise. . . Prob i40. . .
The more i see all the post the less time i feel i have to see everything. . Like the meatman said i best go for quality over quantity and take my time. . .
I usually fly by the seat of my pants i know one thing i wont set foot in California. . . 2funny
Thanks for all the good advise hopefully a good report when i return im sure the wife will have hundrends of pictures for me to  skim thru and post some on here . . .

Sedona is a must, North Rim is great and MUCH less crowded ,but as others have said wont be open till may 15th.  Swing by Page AZ and see horseshoe bend at sunset.  If your traveling from the south rim to Zion stop by Jacob Lake and  hit the bakery at the Inn.  The cookies are awesome.  Bryce was breath taking and ZION is Spectacular.  I was able to stay in the Zion Lodge   this past Oct and hiked  Angels Landing and observation point.  Really anywhere out there is breath taking.  Hope to do it on my Valk some day.     Good luck and safe travels

Just a reminder that once you get out here that 50 miles could take WELL over an hour due to mountains, blind corners, twisties and gawkers. You will also find yourself stopping
regularly for all those kodak moments.
