Just watched the trailer and it looks like it will be great. I just thanked my wife for her work on the Apache program!

Ya know, I never talk about my military service in Viet Nam, or the Gulf War, just never felt like I should. To many bad things happened, to often and for to long.  But, I would like to say, I met and talked with some really cool dudes in this last war. I talked with the guys that shot the first scud missile down when the Gulf war started. It was within 50 yards of where my company was.  Talked with Apache pilots and what conspired when the war started and how they were killing tanks, and everything else like shooting fish in a barrel.  Talked with tank commanders about how they swept through the elite Iraque guard positions.  Saw hundreds of Iraqi prisoners of war being escorted in to our area.  Not anything like the Chu Hoy's in Viet Nam. Flew over the Iraqi tank positions out in the middle of nowhere desert. Flew into Kuwait where the airport was and went through all of the bombed structures and aircraft. Flew through all the oil fields on fire, literally hundreds could be seen at one time.
It always amazes me the total BS movies produce, telling the stories of war.  Most of it is such bull cocking lies that it is a disgrace to our fighting men and women of our military.  Try as they may, they cannot get it close to the real deal of being under fire in war.  They never get the politics quite right, and the knot holes lined up accurately.
I don't know why this struck me so tonight, but I guess I have finally hit my limit. I am sorry guys for the rant.   I really love my country and the freedoms we enjoy. I'm just sick of the lies and deceit that people are fed, all for a good movie...... OK flame suit on Grin  Edit:

RDKLL, thanks to your wife on my part. The Apache is unbelievable..... I tried to get a ride in one, no deal, to top secret. I did get to sit in one though.  A Colonial said he would get me a ride in a Cobra, and I about crapped myself saying ,"you  betcha sir".  Unfortunately, a few minutes later a shot up AH10 was trying to make it back and land at the airstrip in KKMC. I thought he had it made, but his elevator was damaged so much, he could not make corrections fast enough to correct for a hard touch down. He ballooned up from bouncing hard on the runway, several feet in the air,  but could not compensate , and he stalled, rolled it over inverted and hit and blew up right in front of me.  Munitions were going off and it was a huge mess. Made me sick knowing he was within just a few seconds of making it home safe, all shot up. Sorry, I digress.  Apaches are awesome.   cooldude

Apaches were new when I was an aviator, I got to fly with them a few times in exercises but never in conflicts.    Designed, built and flown for one purpose, a (almost) perfect killing  machine.   They are awesome at what they do.  I would not want to be opposing them.
A well trained team can deciminate an opposing force.

Britman. Have not seen the documentary. I would like to.  Some of those guys were in hell for a while.
Rams, Yes, unbelievable power and destruction. With blackout and bags up, the enemy had no idea what was killing them.

I watched a target towing S-2 come in and land and almost stop and the hook point bolt broke and they went in the drink. BUT the crew did get out and the plane guard destroyer picked up the crew.  cooldude Aircraft not designed as sea planes do NOT float very well at all!  crazy2 IF my health wasn't again me I'd LOVE a couple more cat shots and arrested landings!  coolsmiley RIDE SAFE.
