I do sometimes on long rides.  Riding through the redwoods while listening to Lord Of The Rings is pretty cool.

There's a network of free library access to audiobooks, the process escapes me. Call your local library and they can hook you up.

There's also Audible from Amazon, short money per month.

I love listening to them.

All though the technology has changed, when I hit the long road in my truck or cage, I always hit Cracker Barrel for some audio books.  They rent them in cd form.

I know you can download books, but I never done it.

Listening really makes the trip go faster and I feel it helps keep me from losing attention.

Sometimes I actually sit in the vehicle listening, waiting for a chapter ending. Roll Eyes

You borrow the books and download them via wifi...it is awesome. Cant remember the last time I listened to music...always books. Cannot reccoment this service high enough https://app.overdrive.com/

a few yrs ago, my wife and I listen to some on our way from Ohio to Fla. we "rented" 1 from a Cracker Barrel, and when we finished it we turned it back in to another CB in another state, and got another 1. pretty cool. I wouldn't recommend it in heavy traffic or traveling thru a city, too much can happen, and you can get engrossed in the story.

Had them on casset tapes a LONG time ago. Go into the T/S to eat come back out and stead of going to bed turn the book back on and miss some sleep!  Lips Sealed Distracted under the wheel Me? NO. At the time it was a flat fee membership and pick em up at Point A and drop em off and git more at point B. Some of the people that did the reading were better than some others. Oh dark thirty in the desert and no stations punch in an audio book-what-I knocked off another 300 miles!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Yeah, I agree. Stick with the professional narrators.
Authors reading their own books usually suck at it!
Michael Kramer is one of the greats.

On long rides I listen to Audible. I have the Overdrive app too, and get free books through my local library system.
Great stuff!

I use in-ear headphones. They block out the wind/road noise, but I can still hear traffic.
Plus you don't have to turn up the sound very loud.

Thanks. Got the app downloaded. Now I've just got to go to the library. It's been so long I don't have my card anymore.  Smiley

I have never listened to them. But I was thinking about it for my blitzkrieg ride to Inzane. Any opinions ? I’m wondering if it will divert attention from riding safely ? I listen to music all the time with no ill effects. Would the audiobooks be different ?

I read paperbacks while riding.  My biggest issue is turning pages while wearing gloves.

The wind turns them faster than I can read.  Wink

I'm sure I could use them, but I'm afraid I'd be dozing off. (No disrespect intended)
