I painted my deflectors with a paint that bonds to plastic. They look good but they are not smooth and have some orange peel. Should I sand them now with a 1000 or 1200 grade then clear coat? Then maybe sand clear coat?
Any hints or tips? Thank you!

They may have a coating like the windshield. Pick at a spot and see if the film lifts. You could sand ,  prime and try again.

During the prep process I did scuff them up. They did not seem to have a coating on them. The paint adhered good to the plastic. Just want a smooth glossing finish. Not sure of the finishing sanding technique. I am using rattle can paint.

He's very reasonable and does good work.

He has several colors to choose from as well.

Should have painted the back side of them only, this way you can't scratch the paint from the front side and wipe away the bug juice much easier. Just saying.

If you really want it more like glass.
Clear them with a good 2k clear and sand with 1500
and then buff with a good quality rubbing compound.
I have gotten great results doing it this way.

I used regular Rit Dye. Cleaned the lexan really well with warm soap and water. Rinse well. Made a strong solution of the dye in hot water. Used a container big enough to submerse the lexan being colored.

Left them in the solution all night,  rinsed the next morning.  I think I did mine twice in order to get a noticeable result.
