Around 9 years ago, the level for a Nobel Peace Prize was lowered to that of a PEZ dispenser, remember these?

Even Tom Toles, one of the prolific and unabashed liberal political cartoonists of the last few decades couldn't let the last President's Nobel slide

There's simply no way it matters anymore who wins it.

The entire world should be cautiously optimistic about how the Korea situation is shaping up.
And all of us should give credit where it's due: President Trump's approach was obviously the correct one.

In fact, I'll go one further: it's not fair to Trump that he can't have this milestone without EVERYONE talking more about Obama than Trump himself. Even Trump supporters barely mention Trump before spending the rest of the discussion blasting Obama.
Trump opponents, Fox, CNN, and even Trump himself immediately brought up Obama.
I say, let Trump have this moment without bringing up anyone else.

Having said that, I'm not sure Trump's approach to Korea was meant to bring about peace.
I think he was just facing off a barking dog by showing he was a bigger dog with sharper teeth. And that was the exact thing needed in that situation.

But hey, the Nobel prize nomination is a fine reward either way.

Also, North Korea never wanted to be a nuclear power, they wanted to force their way to the table from a "position of strength". Trump's threats scared them, while the diplomats offered a face to face meeting. The combination was enough to bring them around.

Hmmmmm.......looks like one of my posts got deleted, for sure wasn't any worse than a few others on this topic.  Angry
I might have inadvertently taken you down with a post of mine.  Embarrassed I think I referred to one of your assessments in an unflattering way.  Embarrassed Sorry bout that.  Smiley

No apology needed, I do find it a bit hypocritical that any posts were deleted, considering several posts here are no less tame. Would've been nice that I got a PM stating why my 2nd post was deleted, there was no member personal attack or foul language used.
The "rules of the road" are pretty specific. But they are implemented by humans. I don't rightly remember what your words were verbatim. But, I'm sure mine could have been taken as an insult on your intelligence. That's not how it was meant, but I can see where it could be seen that way. As to Willow sending PM's. Give me a break. Just reading and deleting has got to be time consuming enough. Like I say, it was probably me. If I hadn't quoted your post, yours likely would have survived. My quest for personal growth continues.  Smiley

I don't usually bother to explain post removals.  I figure that even if a poster doesn't specifically know he has done he will know when he was dancing on the line.

The Rules of the Road call for respectful communication.  I interpret as disrespectful the use of demeaning pet names whether they are referring to another member or a public figure supported by other members.  When I remove a post I will, by practice, remove any posts that quote the one removed.

I consider it personally offensive when one accuses me of hypocrisy.  If you knew me at all you would know that that is something of which I am  incapable.  I get that accusation occasionally from both sides of the political/social spectrum.

Notwithstanding brain injury, and with one particular human excepted, any human capable of communicating is capable of hypocrisy.

Fair enough, although many members walk/cross the line here if that is the case. I never said you were a hypocrite, just that the action of such appeared that way. I am an Admin on a very popular motorcycle specific forum since 2005, so I am very aware of moderating and never being able to please everyone. You must be unbiased in your actions as a moderator, regardless of what your beliefs and stances are. I don't believe I fully crossed that line, in particular since I NEVER personally attacked a member here. You do a good job on the forum overall, and I am the "NFG" so I reckon I'll have to figure out how things work here as time goes on. I highly recommend a section where we can speak more freely with minimal moderation, a general discussion area isn't that kind of area.  Wink I have to assume that my post was reported, and you had to take action or ignore it.

I hope you didn’t take my post as accusing you of hypocrisy. Or accusing you of anything for that matter.
