Well, I thought I was done but I have a slight problem with my alternator...I just took it out and cleaned it up, the brushes looked good still and the rubber dampers look good too, so I just cleaned it up and put it back together...I went for a 100 mile ride today and I notice a "whirling sound" coming from the alternator...did I clean it too well...??? I'm  hoping it might be the rubber dampers...the bearings were good as I checked them while apart...Did I mess up the dampers...??? sounds like the noise is coming from the front of the alternator...!!

Let me know your thoughts...I do have the new rubber dampers and new brushes that I can install if you think I should...!!!

I don't think so. There is not really anything that you could have got wrong with the dampeners. Maybe you are just listening to it more intently since cleaning it.

Some alt whine. Some don't. Puttin out the right voltage should be good to go. RIDE SAFE.
