Are New parts Old?

New OEM Honda rear wheel dampers for my Interstate fall in and it is not my wheels fault!
Is stock sitting to long on the shelf and deteriorating; wearing out before we use it? ???

Was/is there a mfg date on the cush drive parts or the bag they came in? Some car shows with sales you will find N O S-new old stock. Mayhaps This is what you MAY have. RIDE SAFE.

Ordered a set last year from my local dealer and they fir as they should......so I can't answer your question.

Hmmm maybe a bad batch? When my supposed to be superior/harder aftermarket dampers disintegrated. I found my original 97 dampers and had to tap them in as they were very snug. this was a couple years ago maybe three.

When you say "fall in" do you mean NO contact at all?
They are not supposed to fit tight.

Yes, Fall In = No contact around the perimeter. Not what I am use to seeing.

I also just got a set of dampers from Western Honda - turns out they list two types of dampers (at least for 99 tourer). One is wrong and one is right. I rolled the dice and chose the wrong one. The wrong one has some funky inserts that you also have to buy which effectively doubles the price. When I called them up the guy said he could replace it with the other type but I'd have to pay for return shipping AND he wouldn't send the correct one out before the incorrect set returned. The incorrect set THEY LISTED AS CORRECT. Turns out they didn't even stock it.

That's when I went to ebay with the correct number. Everette Powersports had them in stock and they arrived in 4 days.

And they were very snug going in. Had to pound them in with a chunk of wood as I was too impatient to set them in the freezer overnight.

I thought that the dampers were the same for the Goldwing (GL1500)?

Since there are more goldwings in the market than valkyries, maybe they would be 'fresher' parts (i.e. don't sit in the warehouse for many years)?

Therea re 2 types of damper.  One is the old design where the bushings and the damper were not molded as a single piece.  these wore out quickly.  They are no longer available.  Only the newer ones are available as a replacement for old damper.  these are single piece dampers with the bushing molded into the damper itself.  Theya re completely interchangeable.
