Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Took a 2 hr nap this morning after work and decided to go see the better half at church as a surprise. Its to be 93 today so I'll ride the bike and stop at the HD shop. Its 25 mile or so from the house. As I get a mile from town I notice its starting to get slow. Hmmm....I got the throttle rest all the way down and im doing 45 instead of 100 in that position. Cant be a fuel issue as im only at 114 on the tank but switch to resv. No change. Its the second tank of fuel this yr so Im thinking its the throttle cables I put on. Stop at a gas station and look under the tank and it still hooked up. Must be at the controls. I got push and pull but as I looked close I noticed my grip is turning on the throttle sleeve. Ahhhh! coolsmiley It catches when the grip is half way around. No biggie so I go to church. Fig if I have no throttle I'll take the grip off and just use the sleeve till I get home. I got out of town and used the CC so I don't have to hold onto the grip. She finally let loose 5 mile from home but ended up just squeezing the grip till I got home. Easy fix! Only 100,000 miles and the grip glue.  cooldude

Stuff happens even to the best of us once in a while.    At least this is a small thing.   Curious as to what grip glue you are using?

Fudge, to be completely honest  I was wondering if your Bike thought you needed some reflection time before letting you go to church

These Valkyries are special in so many ways

I use clear RTV sealant to glue my Iso grips on (more of it than glue, and most down in the grip, not on the bar).  It works real well, for about a year, then starts to slip a bit (never as bad as yours).  But my throttle boss starts getting lower and lower, and I just rotate it back up.  The left grip never comes loose, only the throttle grip from the sleeve.

When it gets irritating, I pull it off, clean it up and do it again.  I use RTV so I don't have 1.75 seconds to get it turned just right before the superglue won't move anymore (and a much more friendly cleanup of the goop that comes out the top when you slide them on), and if I need to pull a grip off for any reason, it's a piece of cake.

Try using golf grip tape.  Clean the parts and wrap the sleeve with grip tape.  Remove the paper backing and wet the newly exposed grip tape with mineral spirits.  Slip the grip on and let dry overnight before using.  The mineral spirits soften the adhesive and allows the grip to slip until the MS evaporates.  I've never had a grip come loose.

Good info.  Thanks I’ll try it .   My left grip is a real PITA.  Wink
