Yeah, the thought of Daniel's bike being washed and clean leaves a bad taste in my mouth too!

My 26yr history of watching VA weather is that it is very very accurate for today and tomorrow, but the longer out the forecast gets, the more unreliable it is.

The 60's nights should make morning riding nice and cool, as will riding up elevations and under the trees. This time of year, the high daytime temps will not be 12-1PM, but the temps will climb all afternoon until evening.

But nobody should leave their rain gear home.

After getting stopped on a freeway (full blockage accident) for 3+ hours in a driving rainstorm a couple years ago (with no exit for 20 miles), I now also now carry a mini folding umbrella.  I don't care how funny it looks, sitting on your bike on it's kickstand for three hours in driving rain on a stopped freeway is better with an umbrella, than with Lake Erie going down your neck.   Probably better in full beating sun too.

Not one rat bastard in a cage would invite the soaking wet motorcycle guy in out of the rain either.  No matter how wistful I tried to appear.

Trying to find a place to take a leak in that situation was impossible (except in your pants, who could tell, except for the steaming boots? )  crazy2

Jess,  cooldude on the mini umbrella! Few years back we got stuck in a frog strangler on the BRP. My buddy has a wing, we pulled over because visibility was 0, to wait it out. He pulled out his umbrella and I laughed at him. Needless to say, he didn’t share...
I always have one in my saddlebag now.

I love googling seemingly random words just to see what I find...

"Motorcycle Umbrella" did not disappoint.

Yeah, it's one of those things born of experience.  That day sitting in the rain, seemingly forever, I thought about pulling out my half cover, putting it on the bike, and crawling under it.  I was really tired after a week in NC and a long haul, almost home.  But I knew I would fall asleep under there (in minutes), then traffic would start moving and someone would run me over in the middle of the freeway (sleeping under the cover).

A couple years back a buddy and I were on BRP in a strangler and it was almost night time dark, though daytime.  We pulled off together, but he didn't like the footing (mud), so he said he was going to find the next decent spot to pull off up ahead, and to find him when the rain slowed down (I couldn't see my hand in front of my face and was not moving).  I never saw him again.... though we were all day on the same road.

I would be a bad meteorologist if I didn't caution against a 10-15 day forecast --- as Jess alluded to, it's often a mix between climatology and wishful thinking.

That being said, I hope things progress as forecast!  laugh

Dang, Bill. I’m sorry you feel this way.  Smiley I’ve got 2 ordered and being delivered in Roanoke. A green one for my I/S, and a blue one to match “Georgia”.  Smiley
