Long story short....she fell in the bathroom and broke her right hip. Agony like I've not seen in a person is some time and when it's your loved one it tears you up inside. So, by the time we were done with the ER and being admitted, testing and xrays, talking to specialists, etc., I was up from 8:00am Wednesday until late Thursday. Talk about the walking dead! The dr. told her she was fortunate with the break, she suggested his definition of good fortune needed some explaining. It was broken on the upper part of the leg bone just below the ball where it goes into the hip socket. He said often with older folks it's the actual hip bone that breaks which means weeks of healing without surgery except to possibly insert screws and such. In her case they just did a hip replacement except for the socket which still had plenty of cartilage. So now with two falls in the last 1.5 years she's broken her right shoulder and right hip. I asked if we can stop with the right side, leave the left side as it is. With a poker face, she looked at me and said her destruction of the "right" is now complete, the "left" remains intact. In case you can't figure that out, she's a registered democrat....something we don't argue about, rather tease and zing each other. In this case I'll let her have the last word.....for now.  Wink

The surgeon said the operation went great and even though a frail little woman....she did fine. Now they can exercise that leg again and hopefully gain some strength back. Next hurdle following rehab will be to get her to a dr. that's certified in pescribing medical marijuana. She wants to at least try it to see if it helps with her tremors associated with advanced Parkinsons. If it does....great, if not....so be it.

Ouch... Hate to see my life partner in pain, I think it cuts me deeper than the actual pain she's going through at the time...

I believe you can get cannaboid oil shipped to you.

You don't need the weed that you can buy on the street.

John, my FIL has Parkinson’s also. We got him some weed brownies. It worked, but it freaked him out. They have this stuff called CBD oil that is derived from weed, but doesn’t have the mind altering stuff. It helps a lot with his tremors. They are not gone, but drastically reduced. You don’t need a prescription. Best wishes for Rita and yourself.  cooldude

Also sorry to here this, give her time to heal before getting into politics with her again.  We don't have to worry about the left or right, gravity is at fault here...

Sorry to hear this, John.

I've not used CBD oil, but hear rave reviews from many people afflicted with all sorts of pain, as well as cognitive problems, tremors, and other issues.

It sounds like the hip may be broken, but the wit and humor are in perfect shape.

Prayers for you and your bride as you face this together.

Ditto on the CBD oil. I've read a lot of stuff about it and just ordered some two days ago online. Found some gummys infused with the CBD oil in a local store and have ingested a couple of those over the last two days. There seems to be a whole lot of benefits and could be worth it for you to look into that.

John, my heart goes out to you  and Rita, it seems to be harder on the caregiver than the one being cared for. I know you have the support of family and friends. Your plate has been full for a long time now. Long distance hugs to you both, prayers, and I'd wait a while to let her know that the right everywhere else is flourishing...  Kiss
