I had no idea the assassination of RFK would draw controversy ?  Shocked We don't know how history would have changed or if it would have changed at all. It was a big moment in our history regardless.

His assassination isn't but the reactions don't surprise me.   You are apparently clueless as to how divided this country is..........

Robert Kennedy was a strong and a good man.  I believe he would've gained the nomination.  I am not glad he was killed but if his brother, Edward, was any indication of his family's values we are fortunate that he did not become president.

Good men do not cheat on their wives.
The American voter should never put ANY politician in office that cannot uphold their marriage vows.
If someone lies to their spouse, why would anyone expect them to be truthful with the American public.

I was 10 and not interested in politics yet. I don’t know if he would have gained the nomination. I too believe him to have been a good man. Myself and my two brothers are about as different as you can get. From everything I’ve read, Edward and Robert were nothing alike.

Everything I've read says RFK was a compassionate human being but also the strong man of the Kennedy family.  I think he would have been a good President, but I think Nixon was better in regards to preparation for the job and his foreign policy team that put us into better relations with China and the USSR.

What never was is just that.  I deal with the present - it's enough.

Well I see at least two are trying to miss the point. See if this helps.
100 percent of all cheaters lie to their wife directly or by omission over the cheating.
Hopefully that ties it together for you. If not please do not worry about it, I sure will not.

No need to label what I wrote, I'm well aware of your point. I just don't agree with it. I don't think Trump is a good person. I think he was the best choice for president, and still do, based on his actions. I believe that President Carter is a good person. I also believe that until President Obama's terms, Carter was the worst modern President.

I wasn't a Nixon fan at the time, but looking back he accomplished quite a lot.  He ended the Vietnam War and opened up relations with China.  During his term the voting age was lowered to 18, and the military draft ended.  Actually that was a fairly progressive agenda.

you realize the divorce rate is around 50% don't you? That means 50% of americans according to your logic is not fit to be president. That probably includes over 50% on this very board. But i guess if you are divorced Pete thinks very little of you.

Yes I am aware of the divorce rate.
As for "means 50% not fit" you are way to low.
I am also aware that all divorces are not the results of a cheating spouse. Are you?
If the divorce was caused by a cheating (lying) spouse, then yes, no one should vote for them.
The comment was about presidential runners not members of this board.
As for your guess of "thinks very little" that is a different question and you are wrong.

Too many reasons for divorce other than cheating to assign that as the main cause.  I think RFK would ha weve made a great President.

Neither marriage  nor divorce should disqualify for political office.

Cheating on a spouse, lying to a spouse should disqualify for political office. As should lying and cheating of any kind.

To make it simple for some folks, none of the Kennedy brothers should qualify as well as many others.
Some who were elected to office and some who only ran.

Why would you expect someone who cheats and lies on/to a spouse or to anyone to NOT lie or cheat on you the citizen voter?

I understand the reality of only having only 2 real electable possibilities and when both are guilty, one makes a best of the bad choices. I do think it is  shame for the voter to be placed in that position and both voters and parties should do better or quite politics.

I am sure that in every voters life they have had to hold their noses way to often when voting.
