neighbors moved and still helping them out

he wants me to sell his john deere riding lawn mower since moved few weeks ago since his wife does not 'allow' him to sell anything on craigslist.  He said I get 10% of any amount I sell it for on craigslist.  Is worth guessing 600 bucks so 60 bucks for hastle of selling it for him.  My other neighbor drove it tonight and offered 500 cash.  Told moving neighbor and he said 'he will think about it?' 

Gee, for 40 dollars more ONLY if I get it off craigslist and the hastle (600-60 mine at 10%) he must be hard up for money?  Hoping for one of the LAST things I have to do for them though, will see???????

I had to make 2 trips with my truck and trailer to move his stuff as well last week in May, free of charge as well I might add and they make near double of what we make for income, go figure?

Even when neighbors move 30 miles away,  they still want help??????  In the meantime, I am using it to mow my grass FREE of charge (minus gas of course).

Other neighbor below me is moving 2-3 years from now as well,  YAH!!!!  Could be worse though just depends on who moves in I guess?

I've been looking for a John Deere.

You can sell it to me for $100 and tell him that's all you could get out of it.

Friends don't take advantage of friends.  You will find you have a lot more acquaintances than true friends.....

The "details" of putting anything on one of my trailers are worked out before anything ever gets loaded.   I've learned the hard way.    Doesn't mean I don't help friends out from time to time but, they and I both know what to expect.

If you don't work it out up front, you're just asking to be taken advantage of.   Once that starts, it won't end until someone's feelings get hurt.

I thought so too, but guess not?  I helped him 2 smaller loads but the MAIN load I was busy that weekend using my own enclosed trailer moving my daughter from dorm on college campus to a house.

My wife says just tell him to get the darn thing OUT of my yard and not sell it for him.  Either that,  try selling for say 700 which it is probably worth top end with bagger and tell him I got 600 for it thus getting 60 + 100 profit  

I just think it is petty for 40 bucks to squabble over that much when his wife is ignorant.

Forty bucks mean that much to you?  Or, that extra hundred?

As I said previously, there are true friends and acquaintances.  If your previous "friend" won't stick to his word and I assume you both had that understanding, then he was simply a user and not a friend.    

 A man's word and his personal integrity are all we really have that we have complete control over.  Admittedly, mis-understandings do occur though.

Personally, I'd tell him to come get the mower and not bother coming back.   I sure as hell wouldn't tell him one thing and do another.

If he can't tell his wife the truth, well that's his burden to bare.  Don't make it your's.

I have done that often in the past.  smart move for sure dozens of times.....

only good thing I can stall awhile I guess and keep using it like I did today, but being a 100x100 foot city lot with the house taking up near 1/2 of that almost is not worth firing it up saving maybe 20 minutes of mowing time tops....    I still have to get out the push mower for the 1-2 passes that have to do by a walking push mower.

decided to be MR. NICE guy again HOPEFULLY ONE last time and posted on craigslist tonight 8 p.m..  got call within 5 minutes from local guy 15 minutes away and sold for 650 cash deal done by 830 p.m. tonight.  I keep 65 bucks and he gets 585.  Am sure I could have sold for 750 taking sometime to get, but when I post something, I always post to try to sell quickly and easily and fairly. 

Now to meet up with ex-neighbor and give him 585 cash lives 30 miles away.

I work near where he is at so only few miles out of the way, that would be mean to charge him under 10 bucks for delivery charge - LOL..

He is the neighbor (now ex-neighbor) who always asked for help or advice since his wife was pretty much useless in all senses and conditions as well as their 2 lazy daughters unable to lift a finger as well to help out anywhere.   If only he can get some NEW neighbor to help him out as much, good luck on that one.  My older brother is in the same boat having a neighbor who needs help as well wiping his own butt (so to speak)...   

He is also pushing 60 years old and is having some health issues that could become serious in his 60s so if I was in his shoes, I would want someone nearby to help me out as well so sort of feel, in a way, sorry for him having to deal with a somewhat useless unhelpful family and potential serious health issues coming his way. 

Having time for my kids and mom in assisted living and her own house, whom I saw today (not well) and mowed her yard, and my own housekeeping leaves basically NO time for me to ride my cycles - there now it is Valk related??
