That's what the Honda service manager offered me in trade towards a GoldWing. (About $2,000 less than the salesman estimated.) I told them to pound sand.  
Hell, the long out-of-production Rivco centerstand alone is worth nearly that.     I guess I'll just keep the old girl running for another 20 years.

Not surprised. I ran into the same thing when I was shopping for the new Wing. I agree that it does suck. Thankfully I sold my Valkyrie in a private sale to a fellow VRCCer for a fair price.

Yep. Walked away from the deal and as I rolled my black and yellow friend of 21 years back into the garage I couldn't help but think I'd done the right thing.

Barnstormer and a friend were heading home from Laconia and stopped at Naults for a litttle window shopping.  Naults had a few (new) Valks on the show room floor.  When the salesman looked out the window and saw the three Valks he made an off the cuff remark "why would anyone want to trade one of them in for one of these (pointing at the new Valks)?"   I guess that says it all.  We would be foolish to trade them in at a dealer because the dealers do not understand/appreciate what these bikes mean to Valk owners.

We would not be able to get the comfort, smoothness, power and elegance in any other bikes.  Yeh, they are getting a little old (like us all) and parts are getting difficult to find but I think putting in a little effort to keep our bikes going are worth it in the long run. 

How many prior Valk owners have regretted getting rid of their Valk and settling for some other bike, just because the Valk had a 100K on the odometer.  I won't sell mine but I have promised it to my grandson when he graduates in 4 years and it will have over 100K on it when he gets it but he says it doesn't matter.
